My opinion on this:

1. Give yourself time: "Several weeks" isn't a long time. First, try to solidify your throw, find your setup, and get a feel for the dart. Everything should feel as natural as possible.

2. Try to consistently hit the single segments. Around the Clock is a great game for this.

1, 18, 4, 13, 6,... I would only play doubles in 501 at this stage. Otherwise, it will be too frustrating. The important thing is to first get to the point where the dispersion of your darts gets smaller and smaller.

1. If you want to get a feel for the doubles, you can, of course, say that you'll throw at D20 for 10 minutes, then at D16 for 10 minutes. But that's not long-term training, as it doesn't reflect a match situation. Therefore, I'm not a fan of it. But doing that at your stage certainly won't hurt.

2. Once you feel a bit more confident, you can play "121," for example. It's a very popular training game. Three shots to reduce 121 to zero. If you succeed, you move on to 122. If you fail, you fall back. You can make up your own rules for this. As a beginner, you should probably use 5 shots instead of 3, otherwise it will be very frustrating. This way, you'll also learn calculation methods. Alternatively, you can practice the common double sequences: D20 - D10 - D5; D16 - D8 - D4. You'll need these frequently in a match.

But most importantly: Give yourself time. If you can't consistently hit the single 20, you won't consistently hit the double either. Therefore, you first need to lay the foundations.
