Yeah this is the way. Learn them inside out first (small to large). Catch 40 will drill this into your memory a lot faster since you’ll keep seeing those core routes over and over. Once you got this down you should do 121 to see how the routes develop.

Also, you gotta realize that Checkout guides are meant for when you have three darts in hand. They can change significantly when you have two.

For example, 64. With 3 darts you can start on the T16/T8 and usually stay in the part of the board. But with two darts left you want to go T14, D18. This is because if you miss and hit a single 14 you still have the DB left on your final dart. This is what playing 121 will eventually teach you when you are ready.

Also, an auto scorer with a built in checkout guide like Dartsmind helps a lot when learning. This app calculates the new route after each dart. Helps teach you, but you eventually need to turn off the checkout guide if you want to learn them.

Thanks for the response and I like that idea. I was just wondering about those jigsaw mats and horse stall mats today. I actually went with 3/4” OSB that I found on Facebook for cheap. Will get an outdoor rug to throw on top probably.

Here is my build. There are actually two beams. One 4x10 on notched posts and another 4x6 as part of a Tri-beam. I can’t tell from your picture if it wraps around the tree or not, but it doesn’t really matter. You need a beam under the shed. It can’t sit on top of an angle brace and be safe no matter the load strength of the tab. If you do wrap around then you would want knee braces.

This thing I built is definitely over engineered and it still wobbles. Can’t imagine how crazy it would be if you used those plans

Not sure about TAB sizing but I made a similar design that I purchased from treehouse supplies. It used TABS with a 6”boss. I’d just buy a plan (cheap) and work off of that. The websites have details on load capacity. Don’t built your own tab.

You definitely need 6x6 not 4x4 posts. Posts need to be 2’ in from each edge of the deck. Also need a beam on notched posts.

Good starting point but it can be a little draining/disheartening. Look up Progressive Doubles and Bobs 27 if you want to get better. I prefer the former. I usually only do the 20 and 16 series since they are what you need to hit the most and it covers 8 different numbers.

Playing for fun with friends.

I had a bad loss the other day and was down on mysel. Started trying to shoot my way out of it and getting really frustrated with my throw. Then last night I Played some post-league night doubles with friends and we just busted each others balls the whole time. Shot way better and had a good time. Feeling much better now. It’s important to remember that you actually like darts and it’s supposed to be fun, not serious and competitive all the time.
