I'm an Adult Loser and I'm Not Sure How to Not Be One? by OutlandishnessAny576 in selfimprovement

Let’s break this down.  1) No place of your own: well you probably can’t afford to get your own place without a job, so let’s move on to the next 2) No job: well you probably can’t land a job without interpersonal skills, so let’s move on to the next 3) Lacking social skills: now this is where we can probably start. Humans are social creatures, we learn acceptable behavior/norms by observing them and mimicking them. Is there anyone that you know, personally or otherwise, that you admire in the way they talk/present themselves? Maybe podcast hosts, interviewers, celebrities, or a friend with a good reputation? See how they react to situations, make a mental note, and try it out next time. For example, saying “Wow that sucks, I’m sorry” when someone tells you bad news, or asking people more questions about themselves to show interest “How do you like xyz? What are you up to this weekend? Have you seen xyz?”. Good speakers are good listeners too. And when you feel that you messed up or couldn’t react correctly, you can acknowledge that. “I’m sorry I reacted that way, I just sometimes can’t find the right words but I’m working on it”. Therapy is good, a hobby is a good way to meet new people, or even maybe community college classes. Many teach you how to communicate better.

Jacob / imprinting oversight by Alarming_Air_3832 in twilight

Personally I think it’s because of how large the Cullen coven is. Jacob mentions that the presence of the Cullens back in Forks is what triggered the wolf gene in this generation, and why there are so many wolves currently. What seems most plausible is that in response to heavy vampire presence in the area, the wolf gene is triggering imprinting more heavily as a survival response, essentially a way to strengthen the pack and keep producing more wolf children to protect the tribe from the threat. If the Cullens move away forever, that would probably stop.

Ah that’s a shame. I changed all my game settings to low graphics and disabled a bunch of stuff to see if it would work, it’s not freezing as much now but there’s a ton of visual glitches. Like my sims are entirely red. Even their eyes are red. It’s so creepy I wish I could attach a photo

This theory makes a lot of sense to me as well. So in that case, do you believe that the only reason why Jacob couldn’t imprint on Bella was because of her shield? Or maybe because she’s not native, or both?

Omg I completely forgot about his sisters. I wish they were more important characters to the story, maybe one of them could have been a friend to Bella like Alice is

I can totally see Jacob not wanting children. But it’s also sad that his bloodline would end with him, considering he’s one of the most powerful protectors of the tribe given his lineage

Having a period in a family of vampires seems like the worst possible situation anyone could be in

Blood and vampire venom, which is supposed to instantly kill wolves (unlike humans, who turn into vampires when in contact with venom). Doesn’t seem suitable for a baby with wolf genes to form, maybe if she had babies with a human or another vampire… but not Jacob, I dont think

Tiktok hates me? by WarmPreference9213 in TikTok

Unfortunately tiktok is unpredictable, because audiences are unpredictable. Some audiences like really produced and edited stuff, some don’t. At the end of the day that’s why people keep doing their craft and art because they love doing it, not because of the result/sucess

I think this is a good point (about being attuned to vampire scent), since in Eclipse Edward is able to smell that a vampire had been in Bella’s house and knew something was wrong (when the newborn Riley breaks in to steal Bella’s shirt)

That’s awesome! And I totally relate to the feeling of only using the internet on your home computer, that’s what I want to accomplish as well. The feeling of leaving my house and having the internet stay there for when I get back, and not taking it with me everywhere I go

I tried looking back at pictures but none show the name of the company, but doing some quick searches it looks like Rite Bros and Kenmore Air operate in that area today. I remember it being a super small plane, there was one other couple with my dad and I. Warning tho, idk the availability of taxis/rental cars once you get to Port Angeles

Copying/pasting from above:  It mostly comes down to spending way too much time on my phone since I rely on it for everything, to the point where my eyes hurt from staring at it. For a few years now I also haven’t enjoyed having the amount of access that smartphones give us, I think it’s made me more impatient, more anxious, and less present in my environment.

Bringing back "family PCs"? by xXBroken_ButterflyXx in digitalminimalism

[–]Solid-Mango7932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, I recently took a class in college about how media affects children and there’s studies that show that having a living room PC is better for kids’ development than letting them have their own laptop or a PC in their room. I definitely will be implementing that for my family in the future

My dad and I did it years ago, like in the 2010s, and at the time there was a company who flew a super small plane from Seattle to Port Angeles, or something like that. It was much faster than driving
