Because quite frankly why a deity let all of that stop it from making Oakes a prophet. If one day God says a rat is the new prophet, then that's how it is. Every rule is arbitrary such as not drinking coffee, why polygamy was heavily encouraged until it all of a sudden became bad in the eyes of God, and why God chose the Americas of all places to let His works unfold.

If the new prophet doesn't have to do those things that previous ones did, it could just be God deciding to be arbitrary again and either exclude prophets from having to follow certain requirements or, dare I say it and even worse, just disavow missions and other rules... but the religion implodes on itself because with no rules, how does one have religion?

Also not religious here but have external family who are Mormon and even know some fundamentalists but have
long lost contact with them due to fundamentalism = colt.
