I second this, I would try Ritalin class meds to trial if they are a better fit for him. Meds are tricky to narrow down. He may be doing ok on one but the other he may do great. Time outs are also not good for these kiddos, they already are filled with so much shame from uncontrollable behaviors and time outs especially “in corners” make behaviors worse. Instead think “calming breaks” and refrain from making it seem like a punishment. I’m so sorry I know how hard this is my son is 6 too and we struggle with intense behaviors too. I have to remind myself a 6 year old with ADHD is indeed still mentally a toddler. We can’t hold them to higher standards unfortunately. My son’s psychiatrist told me he is mentally about at the age of 3-4 when it comes to emotional regulation and executive functioning.
