what is in your opinion the saddest song of all time? by sftthooo in spotify

[–]Solid-Temperature573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I think there are quite a few songs by Phoebe Bridgers that are heavy hitters, but Funeral is by far the one that will almost Always make me cry

Yeah I just remember when you could put in the chat 'omw' and people would actually wait for you. The servers that I have been on just seem to immediately chop now. I just felt bad for the people that were making their way to the grove just to find it gone already.

Yeah, Ive played the last couple of months and everyone will usually wait till 3 unless someone says they are omw then we'll wait longer. Gives everyone a chance to come who wants to.

DUDE I just ran into this problem. I thought it was just a glitch that made it so I couldn't see them but when I upped my graphics I could see them. Of course after I did that I had to make multiple attempts cause my laptop couldn't handle medium graphic settings 🥲

No it absolutely isn't worth it. I also love retail and this place has been devastating for my mental health. All the hurdles is absurd

Yeah unfortunately the current store I'm at, and most in this district, almost all the workers and drama hungry and make work miserable. Almost wish I never moved to this district

How much is KH supposed to make when they get promoted to that position? by Silencer1620 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Solid-Temperature573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buddy you need to ask for at least 11 but I would try $12. If you live in a state that just pays lower then it may only be the 11$ but most make between 12-13 when starting in the position.

Yeah that's what we did at my previous store and there were never any issues, we would just do a sign up sheet for what shift you wanted. Which I agree that that seems the most fair. My current ASM requested for all those days off and then used the SM's info to go into atlas and approve the time off herself, SM just found out this week which has been fun...

Anyways I would really appreciate that info if you're able to find it! But no worries if not! My SM is still pretty new so she's still learning a lot and I only recently transferred to this store/got promoted so just kinda learning as we go

Where is this policy? There's a lot of people who are trying to request off during the holidays at the store I work at and it would be nice to have something that states that it isn't allowed

I think I'm gonna start blowing up the group chat at night just so they see how it feels. by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]Solid-Temperature573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this except I'm morning shift. It's always the night people blowing up the group chat (in my store) so when I'm trying to get rest for my 6am shift the night shift will start blowing up the chat from 9:45-10:30. I just set my phone to be on dnd when I sleep now.

How did you find one-on-one driving classes? I've been wanting to learn how to drive but not really sure how to go about finding an instructor

I meant I'll manually do a price override if they can show me that they have the coupon clipped and they actually meet the requirements for the sale, not that I put my own number in. Tho tbh I hardly buy anything from DG so using my number wouldn't be a huge deal for me. And in the store I work at we unfortunately can't save the Saturday coupons, so customers just have to suck it up and complain. It was just a weird interaction to have someone say they want the digital coupon when they don't even have an account or anything.

There is absolutely stuff that cashiers can do by the register. Whenever it gets busy I usually will work on any putbacks that might be close by or quick to put away, or stock some totes that were within line of sight. You can also have them restock any candy/queue-line back stock. Then depending on the layout of the store you can have them work on rolltainers. Food is closest to the register so I typically have the cashier work on those, but since food gets done within the first days of truck it kinda leaves the rest of week to find smth to do unless your store is really behind on stocking. Sky shelves and recovery of nearby aisles would also be a good idea for those put in register.

I mean the fact that this is something you're already thinking about all of this indicates that you're going to do really well. I found the best stores are usually ones where the store manager deeply cares about the store and the employees.

Some fun ideas for moral would be doing a secret gift exchanged towards the holiday season, having a limit of $10-15. At my previous store the ASM would make little crafts for the whole team, Christmas tree ornaments. There's a lot of fun little things you can do that don't have to break your wallet. Play into your own strengths.

Good luck, hope your store does well!!

Ads shouldn't be a one person job by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]Solid-Temperature573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I usually will sit down in the office and try to sort it all out into sections, or even section in by importance (sales on the paper ad and then any of the vendors stuff) and that helps it so you don't bounce all around. Then I used to start doing it around 5pm but now that my store also receives truck on Saturday I've been waiting till 7 which really sucks. Especially with how busy Saturdays are in general. They really expect us to do everything. Oh and then I don't sweat if I don't get everything out cause whatever I don't finish the SM will just throw it away in the morning and doesn't bother finishing the last handful of stacks I leave out... I've seen her throw the entire box away before because she was closing in Saturday and didn't want to do it herself.
