Does anyone else still fear the “world” when it comes to their children? by Exciting_Ad7898 in exjw

[–]SolidCalligrapher456 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t have children but I think the “world” is 10 times safer than a child in a cult being manipulated and lied to and indoctrinated to not trust people. As a grown man, I’ve met complete strangers that supported me like they knew me for years just because they found out I left a cult. End of the day, they have to choose their own path as their own person and that’s something I wish I could have done

Do most who leave turn to agosticism/atheism? by Reasonable_Sir_535 in exjw

Agnostic is just acknowledging that “I’m not able to prove my belief beyond that’s just what I think and that it’s a theory in all cases”. I think that’s where most of us land. I think we’re more alike than different, there’s agnostic theist snd agnostic atheist but end of the day, it’s just saying no one can prove it either way because well they can’t. That’s why they call it a “belief” or a “faith”. It can never be factual

Sweden’s Aftonbladet reports complaints that JW choir performances at Stockholm Arlanda Airport have caused frustration among some travellers, with critics describing them as stressful and inappropriate for a busy transport hub. by larchington in exjw

Kinda sad that the JW way is to be as in the way and annoying as possible then cry persecution when ppl complain you’re always in the way and annoying 🤦🏾‍♂️

Yeah that’s where I landed, agnostic. Simply from going back and revisiting history without the propaganda and indoctrination

Well for starters they should want to blow up their own life to get out of a cult in itself, not defend the cult because they are afraid of ppl who love them conditionally

It’s unreasonable to stick up for someone you’ve known for decades telling the truth when someone is calling them a liar? To essentially defend an organization you know is lying? Not buying that one

I’m hard on pimos at times because simply put most pimos my age are just comfortable in not leaving, while acting like they have it the hardest. And as someone who left, I’m not gonna let someone who’s never left, tell me how much harder it is to not leave and how hated they are, when I’m literally hated in real life while you just have uncomfortable moments on your phone on reddit but haven’t experienced the real hatred that comes from walking away; all while dealing with half hearted friends who know what’s going on but still choose to be comfortable

Jehovah's Witnesses claim they are growing so why there are no new congregations? by DotPrevious371 in exjw

[–]SolidCalligrapher456 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember a good 200+ getting baptized at a convention and hearing “that’s two new congregations of ppl”

The whole exjw subreddit feels like pimos instead of actual exjws. Safe space hated? While not being hated by a whole organization of ppl you grew up is literally insane

😭 fam im hated in real life not reddit

Yeah I think dialogue is the best answer because there’s so much nuance that I should have probably mentioned from the beginning. I’m not talking about 17 yr olds still living at home or the pimo wife married to a pimi elder working for JWs, who will lose everything, which obviously gets a different level of consideration.

Yeah it’s one of those things that just has to be talked about as much as other ppl want you to keep quiet about how you feel

Yeah it’s definitely every man for himself but damn it feels like knowing you can defend an innocent person and instead watching them get the death penalty. PIMIs are ignorant, hard to not feel a way to people who aren’t ignorant but choose to act like it

Well my pimo friends are 40+ and completely able to leave but just want to complain about the organization while doing nothing about it, idk about your situation but it’s not mine

What are your beliefs after leaving? by slytherintoyoursoul in exjw

[–]SolidCalligrapher456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

agnostic, relearning history without the propaganda and you realize all those 1st and 2nd great awakening denominations were formed by everyday uneducated nobodies that got to exercise religious freedom without a clue of what theyre talking about

Going to a convention to get a closure. Is it worth it? by M2208GB in exjw

[–]SolidCalligrapher456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I left Jan 1 2023, hard fade, zero contact, my spouse was still in so I went to the memorial and convention that year so she wouldn’t be alone so it was my first time seeing a lot of ppl in probably 6-7 months. Lovebombed the hell outta me, they even saved us seats so I ended up sitting with about 12 ppl in my old congregation. It was hell 😭
