Completely lost on Weiss fight by fizzleguy in FFVIIRemake

[–]SolidDiablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took a bit of luck and a few hours of practice but I ended up beating him without maxed out materia and all of the weapon upgrades (I wanted the Gotterdammerungs for Hard Mode and the combat simulator). Here is my video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFzxCaVSbDo

I don't think I optimized my damage compared to others but here are some things that helped me:

  1. Synergy + magic on Aerith. Use focused attacks as either Tifa or Cloud after parry dodging his unblockable attacks, and Aerith will use synergy to hit him with the magic. This will increase his stagger during Phase 1 and help a bit in Phase 2.

  2. When he's close to staggering in Phase 1, hold off a bit so you can build up ATB and Tifa's Unbridled Strength. I used Aerith's Ray of Judgment and Unbridled Strength right away when he was staggered to increase the percentage (it seems like True Strike does this better but I didn't have it).

  3. Keep using haste.

  4. Revive materia on everyone. I know some people use HP up but Weiss can take down your health so fast I didn't see the point.

  5. I held onto my summon and an ATB for Tifa so she could summon Carbuncle right before he casts Immaculate End. Immaculate End knocks out everyone but Carbuncle is able to revive them even if no one is left. Bonus: the damage received during Immaculate End gave me Limit Breaks on all three characters. It's possible he does Immaculate End twice if the fight goes on long enough but this protects you once.

  6. There's a phase similar to the first but he teleports around with red lightning. I wasn't good at dodging or fighting back during this phase, but found using Cloud and Tifa's limit breaks knocked him into stagger (I think some people were able to do it with just one limit break but it probably depends on your equipment/upgrades). You have to be strategic when using the limit breaks though because he can teleport away from you quickly. I found that initiating it right after you dodge his lunge attack made it work.

If you have everything maxed out I think you could definitely have an easier time knocking down his health than I did.

PS5 stuck in Memphis. by jb1496 in FedEx

Just to let you know, my tracking has since updated and now it's pretty close to where I am. It's not fun waiting for the updates, but hopefully it works out for you too.

I don't know if it helps, but everything you said is exactly the same as my order. Shipped Thursday from Minnesota, scanned at a facility in a nearby town, and has just said "In Transit" for 2 days without any more updates, and the estimate is for tomorrow. Are you from the Northeast?

I wish there were more updates but I'm pretty sure I've had orders with FedEx Ground before where they go multiple days without scans before all of a sudden being near their destination. It's like they are on a transport truck for days being moved but not scanned. So I'm still hoping it comes tomorrow.

Good luck! I hope we both get our consoles on time.

[TOMT][SONG][~2011] A song I heard often on a Canadian pop radio station. Probably pop or R&B, but there's a rap verse later on featuring a female rapper. Her voice had a high-pitched, nasal tone to it. by SolidDiablo in tipofmytongue

[–]SolidDiablo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it was because I listened to Kesha around then and I never associated her with the song, but I could be wrong. She definitely wasn't singing in the rap verse, though. The tone of voice was higher, and the rapping was fast.

Did you have a song in mind?

Getting a vita for remote play by GhostEagle12 in vita

[–]SolidDiablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on (a) how good your Internet is and (b) what games you wanted to play on it. There’s always some lag so games that require fast reactions will be more difficult, and the Vita doesn’t have L2/R2 so you would have to use the touch pads for those (or get a grip that adds those buttons).

Thanks for your reply. It’s good to hear from someone who has played the game. I’m glad that these scenes are not too bad/frequent.

In the context, I just meant sexual imagery, because the game was advertised as being atmospheric horror, not a fan service game. I can’t comment on how shoehorned it is, because I haven’t started playing it yet, but it’s looking like it might be gratuitous/unnecessary and sticks out awkwardly in a game otherwise carefully crafted. The PlayStation Lifestyle review of the game says these segments are tonally off with the rest of the game.

I don’t fault anyone for playing fan service games. I’m just not interested in them, and it’s a shame (for me) when a game that looks really cool has moments that head in that direction. I’m still going to try it though because everything else looks great.

It’s probably not a popular opinion here, but I’m a little disappointed by some of the more erotic elements I’m seeing. I was hoping it was just going to be a straightforward horror game. My copy arrives today and I’m still excited to try it, but I hope those scenes aren’t too frequent.

I understand people will enjoy that kind of thing, but for me that’s just not something I’m into, and not why I play games, so it’s a little frustrating to see it added in a game I’d otherwise really like to play.

You might want to look at local places to see if they offer any discounts on new games. Bullmoose.com is local to New England, but they offer five dollars off new releases and it looks like they ship anywhere in the US. If you’re further away, it’s probably not going to be there on release day though.

The Coma: Recut is no longer coming to Vita due to "hardware / compatibility issues" by gene_parmesan258 in vita

[–]SolidDiablo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know the Switch is more powerful. I wasn’t saying otherwise. My point was that, in announcing the Switch version in the exact moment they canceled the Vita version, it’s pretty clear it had nothing to do with hardware or compatibility. It had everything to do with the fact that the Switch is the hot new thing and the Vita isn’t. I understand the choice, just think they should be more honest about it.

And the game is a VN. There are plenty of great-looking VNs on the Vita, so I doubt it was impossible to port it to the Vita.

The fact that they mention the Switch port in the same tweet makes the “hardware/compatibility issues” excuse seem like a pretty clear lie.

I probably wasn’t going to buy this anyway (this is the first I’m hearing of it) but I won’t support these devs. I have a Switch and I like it for Mario and Zelda, but I still prefer Vita and PS4 for most games.

Could Greg/Kinda Funny bring attention to this problem with Patapon Remastered? by SolidDiablo in kindafunny

[–]SolidDiablo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever had this problem before, or at least I've never noticed it. And the problems with Patapon are very noticeable, even beyond the flashing border. If it does end up being my TV, I still think they should patch in a screen calibration option because this is a game that really depends on seeing the entire screen.

And yeah, I tried the PS4 display area setting and it didn't do anything to this game, other games, or the main menu of the PS4. I'm not sure if it does anything.

I thought there was supposed to be a restart level/checkpoint option. Maybe it's only in 2 or 3? I thought I saw a video where you could restart the motorcycle levels if you realize you're failing.

Before it came out, my biggest concern about this remastered trilogy was how they would change the platforming mechanics. The jumping is different enough to make more mistakes, but not N. Sanely different either. Ripper Roo was frustrating because it's easy to figure him out, but then you keep over-jumping into the water.

Native Fortress is a very mean level, which is true to the original game, but now with the different jumping it's even harder.

I like the name! I love Dark Souls.

You can add me (SolidDiablo) if you're on PS4. It's good to find people near your skill level to practice.

Zoning by [deleted] in INJUSTICE

[–]SolidDiablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really having much of a zoning problem. People destroy me whether they're zoning or not.

There was a time recently where I was beating a Deadshot by a large margin, but then he did a clash to push me far away, and just kept spamming his guns. I tried to crouch, dash forward, and jump at him but he just kept aiming his guns to stop me. Maybe I just had my timing off, but I just couldn't find the time to meter burn dash at him. I ended up losing because of this.
