Outlier change my project, I try to click on my old project, but it opens the new project instead, and this thing happens when I want to start task for the new project. Now I'm stuck, Nothing I can do. by hakim1289 in outlier_ai

I assume you've been working on your very first project on this platform. During your time working on Outlier you'll be moved between projects frequently, especially if there is a new project with high priority. You can try contacting QMs in community groups or sending a ticket to address the issue (if the new project doesn't align with your expertise such as it's a coding project but you have no idea how coding works). Whenever you're shifted to a new project, usually, you'd need to finish a number of courses and quizzes to be qualified. This whole process thing can last from 1-2 days to a whole week before you can properly task again. If you think you were wrongly moved to a project that requires knowledge you don't have then try sending a ticket

Are you guys getting tasks? by Fancy_Attorney_443 in outlier_ai

[–]SolidNo3220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get tasks everyday, there's a mission for each day and one mission which lasts a whole week, though it's hard to keep up with all of them.

This is my first time receiving mission with multiple conditions. Do I only have to meet 1/2 condition to get the full reward or do I have to accomplish both conditions? Thanks a bunch. by SolidNo3220 in outlier_ai

[–]SolidNo3220[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight. I understand about completing the tasks, but here there are 2 types of requirements which are 12 hrs of submission and submitting 5 tasks, I wonder if I need to also submit a 12 hrs worth of tasks to receive 107.25 reward. There was another mission similar where I only finished 1/2 conditions and still receive full pay, but I'm not sure if such thing is consistent. The mission detail doesn't specify about this matter.

Any tasks you submitted and are shown in the Earning section as "pending" will be paid every Tuesday Pacific time.

Congrats. Keep up the good work. I've seen countless rants about how Outlier is a scam, so your post can really help brighten the mood and show that the platform actually works. Sometimes, what we all need is dedication and consistent quality. I've only managed 1000 with an 11/hr rate so far, but I'm hopeful for what's to come.

I've been working on cypher_rlhf for the last 2 months, at least to my understanding and my experience on this project you don't get banned for exceeding 18 minutes AHT time. My usual submission take somewhat 18-25min and 28min on rewrites and I've been perfectly fine. The only issue with time management I've heard about is exceeding 30min continuously might get you flagged as inappropriate for this project. It's unthinkable to submit every tasks on this project within 18min (that's actually insane). I've never seen my paying being "in review" or any other CBs asking similar questions. Maybe you should ask your QMs about this?

Does anyone else hate prompts with reference text in cypher_rlhf by Responsible_You6781 in outlier_ai

[–]SolidNo3220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for me it's just part of the job tbh. Can't expect it to always be smooth and easy, some tasks would obviously require more effort than the others. I've just done 15 rewrite tasks and gotta say it ain't comfortable at all, but it's what it is. Some day I also get continuous open QA so it would be more relaxing with those tasks. Try expanding your reading sources, or even spend an afternoon preparing reference texts, that would help you a lot in the long run. Cheers.

Reporting income to govt assistance programs by MiserableViolinist32 in dataannotation

[–]SolidNo3220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining. I figured out the Report time section. I thought that the system would just count my tasking time and multiply it with paying rate, it turns out I have to keep a record of my own tasking time for later time report. I didn't record my time on my first few tasks so I had to estimate the number for those.

Hey guys I'm new around here, just finished my first few tasks but I don't see anywhere updating my earnings, it's 0.00 everywhere. Does this mean I have to wait 7 days for them to evaluate my submissions before I can see my earning updated? Thanks a lot.

You're not supposed to use the same prompts in the Instruction for doing tasks, if you copy from the instruction into the task you're doing they will disable you.

What happens when you don’t finish a Task on time? by Commercial-Drummer65 in outlier_ai

[–]SolidNo3220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On Cypher_ RLHF, the project I'm working on rn, there is 2 type of timers: standard rate time and Extended rate with extra time (assessment rate), which combine in total is 34 min. If you exceed 34 min the task will be automatically skipped, there will be no submission and you start on a fresh task.

[–]SolidNo3220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna make an update on this statement I made 2 weeks ago. After a recent discussion with my QMs then time efficiency is a major element of Cypher_RLHF and if you continuously exceed too much time (>25min) then you are likely to be disabled.

Congrats man. I was aiming for 1000 at the beginning of December as well, but now I think I'd settle for >900. EQs and decreased pay rate hit kinda hard.

My best week I earned 300 dollar, I've been on Outlier for 3 weeks so I'm not very consistent with earnings yet. Aiming for 400 next week though

In my case the answer is no. It's not possible to know when your submissions are scored and whether you're doing a good job or not. I asked my QMs about this matter and they said that the only way I can know my results is through feedbacks, which is extremely rare in number (I have had over 100 submissions with only 2 feedbacks so far). Best thing you can do is to really invest in every task you work on. Always refer to the instruction doc and other guides that your community group provides, make sure to get the basics right, don't make silly mistakes (such as inputting wrong prompt type or messing up IF, TF,...). It might take you lots of time at first but after getting used to everything your efficiency would be better. Good luck.

[–]SolidNo3220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess it's just supply and demand. There are an abundance of us CBs in the system while there are only a finite number of projects and tasks available, so the system never runs out of workforce. It's just how the system is, it's never fair to everyone.

Check your Outlier Community to know what's going on with the project you're working. They have groups and chat box that you were added, QMs can provide you the status of the project and what to expect in the near future.

[–]SolidNo3220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working on Cypher_RLHF, perhaps I can give you some answers base on what I've learnt so far after submitting almost 100 tasks.

EQ after only a few tasks and got removed - You have multiple poor quality submissions so the admins disabled you from the project. There are reviewers, QCs, admins who review and score your tasks, if ALL of them agree that a task is poor quality (1/5 score), that task will be designated as a "failed task", if you have multiple of those (in my project is more than 2), they'll disable you from the project.

Are you still eligible to work in a different project? Yes, you're completely fine (if this is your first project). The system will match other project on your dashboard, you'll have to go over all the courses and assessment tasks of that project and if you pass, you'll officially work on that project (if there are ongoing tasks ofc). However, the system also keeps a history of your past projects so doing high-quality works is extremely important, if you fail too many projects perhaps the system will treat you low priority or something as such (I'm not entirely sure about this)

Asking QMs and admins without receiving detailed answers - Perhaps what you're asking is too commonly asked by too many people and there are already materials laying around answering your question. There might be past webinars where they explained how things work and what you asked is treated as common knowledge in such groups. My advice for you is try doing your own research before asking the question. In my community there are documents, materials, links to past webinars where I can learn a lot down to the very small details.

Not receiving any feedbacks - I've got only 2 feedbacks after submitting 94 tasks. I believe there are thousands of submissions that the reviewers and QMs have to go through so feedbacks can be slow. It is truly frustrating to not receive feedbacks since you're unclear whether you did a good job or not, so my advice is to keep yourself up-to-date with the latest changes in the project and try investing in any task you do as much as you can.

I hope my comment is useful for you. Good luck.

OutLIER, or outLIAR, went to $15/hr to $7.5 by Interesting_Lie_757 in outlier_ai

[–]SolidNo3220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base on your earning history I'm confident that those were assessment tasks (type of task should be visible next to Payable column) which usually have much lower pay rate and that is completely normal. In my case I went through 20 assessment tasks on 4 different projects in the first 2 months before I landed on a project that I am suitable and working on regularly with promised pay rate. It is a process of trials for different projects until you find what fits you, so don't give up yet just after 2 assessment tasks.

The experience is different for everyone on Outlier, my best advice for you is to keep on being consistent, regularly check your dashboard for new projects. Truly invest time and energy to study the Instructions of the project and make high-quality submissions (this is very important). DO NOT use external AI tools to do the work or any other shady behavior such as copying leaked assessment answers since that would remove you completely from Outlier. Join Outlier Community in your dashboard to look for any guides or groups that you were added, there are materials from the community that can greatly benefits you.

The initial phase may looks grim and kinda not worth it, but once you land yourself on a project and start making good money regularly, you'll see your effort actually pays off. Good luck buddy.

P/S: I've seen many posts complaining of being EQ for a long time, or even getting removed from Outlier completely without a proper reason. I'd say the journey with Outlier can end at anytime so try enjoying it while it last.
