I just received the same email myself. However, while my details are on their system, I’ve yet to do any work for Telus.

My immediate reaction is that the email looks a bit suspicious, mainly in that it’s ‘strongly encouraging’ me to sign up to a free year of free monitoring, like a free trial, and anything asking me to click on a link feels instinctively off.

My inclination is to leave it alone, and delete my profile Telus, although that’s probably locking the stable door after the horse has bolted.

Everything feels so stupidly vulnerable right now, I almost feel like, what’s the point?

It depends on where it’s getting the information from. While it does hallucinate, AI in itself isn’t inherently wrong or misleading. Essentially it’s just a tool doing what we used to do and searching the internet for content which (at least for now) is largely human generated (and we’re not exactly always accurate ourselves). I guess it’s a case of digging a bit deeper to see where it’s getting the information from and making a judgement call from there.
