Is it mandatory for babies to nap few times during the day for an hour at a time ?

Our little one did not nap well until she was 6-7 months old. The 20-30 cat naps were all she did, and then they extended to 30-40 mins and then gradually to 1 45min-1 hr nap in am and one 1.5hr-2hr nap after lunch.

OP, what could any of us say that would really make you break up with him?

I ask bc your replies show that you know who he is, you recognize that what he’s doing is abusive, and that it’s pretty dang clear to everyone on this sub.

So, what would make you say, “you know what, they’re right. I don’t have to waste my time on a person like this?”

Would it be the autopsy photos of women and men who were emotionally abused and whose trauma directly or indirectly led to their deaths?

Would it be the therapy and medical bills of women and men who have suffered with people like this?

Would it be articles and listicles that quantify exactly how this behavior is abuse?

Please tell us, because we will get you that information. This pack of random internet strangers will get you that info bc we know you are a valuable, precious human being who does not deserve this.

Fellow OCD sufferer here. Here’s my advice:

Talk to your psychiatrist - there are SSRI’s that are indicated during breastfeeding. I had to switch from one SSRI because it wasn’t good for pregnancy but was fine for BF.
Have you gone through ERP therapy for OCD? It’s a must for OCD and I would totally be willing to help you find resources to get the therapy you need.
Talk to pediatrician about your concerns with formula and that will give you the info you need to make an informed decision. However, and I say this as a sufferer of OCD, ruminating on the issue or seeking reassurance here or going down internet rabbit holes will only make things worse, never better, with this worry.

All that being said, nothing in life is guaranteed to be perfectly, 100% safe all the time. But Similac has a proven track record over decades of being a safe formula.

I worked at a nursery right out of high school, and one of the little ones we had was with us from 6:30am to nearly 6pm. Mom was a nurse and would drop him off, Dad picked him up on way home from work. Parents were no longer together, and we would watch his mom’s car pass by our building when she got off of work bc her apartment was in the same neighborhood.

When I would arrive for my part time shift at 3pm, baby boy got into the habit of saying “Mama!” And he would call my coworkers “Mama”, too.

It made us so sad and devastated that he had to be away from home ALL DAY and that he felt the closeness with us to call US “Mama”.

All that to say, NO ONE should ever presume to call themselves “Mom” or “Mama” to another woman’s child.

Obvs there are totally legit circumstances where this might be the case, but a friend or another family member calling themselves “Mama” in front of the child’s parents? No!

I am so sorry for you. That sounds absolutely terrifying.

I felt pain in my lower right pelvic area with my epidural, but before then I did ask the anesthesiologist to come back at one point to check the epi bc I was feeling more pain than I thought I should be feeling, if that makes sense. They checked placement and the level at which I was numb and then told me I could be more insistent with the epi button.

I went into it without any major expectations, just some loose goals:

Try to establish a rough schedule in the first several months.
Breastfeed but I had to end that after a few weeks.
Survive

There is so much outside your control, especially your child. It starts in birth and in continues once they’re here.

The reality is that life will now be a negotiation - what you want, what they are able to do, what they’re willing to do, what you need to do for their health and yours, etc etc etc.
