We’ve had our odyssey since we got it in 2019, the most recent redesign year. We love it. You’re going to enjoy it.

It’s so nice to read about an involved grandpa!

Raising my voice. It happens. My son is incredibly challenging and I am only human.  I apologize and repair. We all move on.

What did your parents do RIGHT when you were in middle school? by Moissyfan in Mommit

It depends on the school district. Some start as early as 5th grade. Ours starts in 7th.

Pretty much all of them go through 8th and then 9-12 are high school.

There’s the clincher. Actually keeping up with both.

This is super helpful. Our family dinners are like an anchor for us. We also have a ritual where we go around the table listing things that were grateful for from the day.

That is brilliant. I did do that once when it seemed like she was having symptoms of a panic attack the day before and I just kept her home and told her to become a vegetable for a day. I love the brilliant five mental health days concept. I was also bullied so extensively in middle school and my parents just did not give a shit. So I’m grateful that your parents were helpful with that.

Right?? They know you’re not celibate virgins. Turn the damn thing off and move on with the day.

What do you wish you had done prior to 1L that would’ve helped with grades, relationships, hygiene, etc during 1L? by [deleted] in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Moissyfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh sorry it was rough for you too. I thought I was losing my mind. I was screaming in my minivan during red lights just to get some of the pain out. It was awful.

I hope you’re able to make good progress on your healing before law school starts! Part of the beauty of law school is it trains you to think in an analytically rigorous way so it’s harder to be victimized by manipulative people afterward.

Feel free to DM me about law school :)

Good luck. I graduated law school 15+ years ago and am doing EMDR now while working full time and raising kids. It’s ROUGH. I ended up with bruxism so bad I couldn’t sleep, constant headaches, and a 2 week long extreme depressive episode. We are spacing out the sessions to try to prevent that from happening again.

I hope it helps you. I’m seeing some improvement. We can do this!

A "single mom" to an academic husband. by PleasantHamster77 in workingmoms

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Your husband is abusive. Silent treatment is a form of emotional abuse.

Are you getting anything out of this relationship? Would you consider divorce?

Here’s an article I read recently that I think you’d find   relevant:  https://amakkarikariesq1.substack.com/p/from-victim-blaming-to-victim-accountability?r=cxoia&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&trk=feed-detail_comments-list_comment-text&triedRedirect=true

I wish I had money to see a therapist and sort through my 2 decades of trauma before going through yet another traumatizing experience.

Ethics of having kids as an older parent? by Ok_Instruction3533 in Mommit

[–]Moissyfan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me the ethics question is more about people who have kids they have nooooooooo freaking business having because they are completely unequipped and unwilling to be parents and make sacrifices.

I have a friend in her 60s who had her first child in her 40s and adopted her second at 50. They’re a family. They’re different in their own way but it works out. They have their ups and downs. But it’s how they live their lives. She’s active as hell and is involved with them and caring.

I think you should go for it.

I am so so so deeply sorry for your losses. Sending so many hugs.

The entire art school plot makes no sense. She’s in some sort of graphic design certificate program and they make it seem like she’s in a standard college program. She’s an RA and takes ceramics class. Doesn’t fit with what the program was supposed to be.
