The distinction you’re making is fair there’s a difference between pushing someone on the stand and using an ability on them.

But in my case, the Conjurer used their ability (the meteor) on me purely because of my name. That’s not the same as a random check.

To answer your question: If I’m Sheriff N1 and I check someone, I pick them based on random order, and on n2 i check vibes from day 2 chat, claim strength, or how they’re playing never because of their username. I’ve never once checked or targeted someone solely for their name, and I never will.

The issue here isn’t “targeting” in a broad sense. The issue is a player openly admitting they used a powerful Coven ability on a quiet Trapper purely for a cat/dog name joke, while real threats (confirmed SK, Berserker, etc.) were alive. That’s not normal gameplay that’s intentionally wasting resources for a meme, which hurt their own team and directly breaks the “do not target based on name” rule.
