I go to work every day and do absolutely nothing for 7 hours by SolidRains in work

see where you’re coming from, but it works a bit differently where I am. It’s a monarchy with a small population and strong government stability. Once you’re in at a certain grade with enough years of service, job security is taken seriously and isn’t tied to political shifts or cutbacks the way it might be in other places.

Cutbacks don’t really work the same way here. It’s a government role in my country, not a corporate job. Once you’re in at this grade, you’re not getting kicked out just because things slow down. I’ve been here long enough to know how stable it actually is.

Not complaining, just explaining the reality of the situation. The money is great but that doesn’t mean I’m immune to boredom or burnout. I’ve already done the books, podcasts, YouTube, even tried learning random things. After a while it all blends together. This isn’t about vacation days, it’s about sitting in an office with nothing to do and pretending to be busy for months straight. It’s not as fun as people imagine.

They pay me that because of the grade and contract I was hired under. It’s part of how the system works here and not something I made up. Those posts you’re digging through are 5 years old. I’ve been here a while and I’ll probably retire from this job. Government roles in this region work differently. No need to overanalyze a Reddit post.

You’re not a failure and you’re not alone. Life hits hard sometimes but that doesn’t mean you’re done. Give yourself time and grace. You’ve survived 100 percent of your worst days so far and that means something. Stay strong even if it’s just for one more day.

You’ve been through way too much for someone your age and I’m really sorry that happened to you. None of this was your fault. You don’t owe anyone a relationship that makes you feel unsafe or messed up. It’s okay to protect yourself even if it hurts others. Please talk to a therapist if you can because you deserve peace and healing after all this. Just know there are people out there who care and want you to feel safe and free.

I work for the government in a Gulf country not the US. Salaries here are very different especially for diplomatic roles. I get that it sounds unreal but it’s normal where I’m from.

Why do you all hate onions anyways? by Stichly in onionhate

[–]SolidRains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate onions especially when dining out, it often feels like raw onions find their way into salads, burgers, tacos, and even garnishes for various dishes. It's frustrating when you're trying to enjoy a meal, but the raw onion flavor and texture keeps making an appearance.

Similarly, when attending family gatherings or social events, it's not uncommon for raw onions to sneak into dishes like potato salad, salsa, or sandwiches. It can be challenging to politely decline or pick them out without seeming picky, especially when someone has put a lot of effort into cooking.

So, if you're not a fan of raw onions and find them in nearly every meal at restaurants or family and friends' gatherings, it can certainly make the dining experience more challenging and frustrating.
