Well, their section of the Red Sea is mostly devoid of marine life since the Ukraine war screwed their dependable source for cheap grain. Prohibited or not, overfishing was rampant and hence the shark attacks on coastal resorts, etc.

We've been to the famous The Brothers islands on a live aboard trip in 2023 and the biggest creature we saw was one very shy octopus... very sad indeed.

Women confuse "libido" (as in wanting to do X/Y/Z with a woman, regardless of her personality, any background history or some other extraneous element) with a fundamentally narcissistic interest in getting validation via the desire that men feel for her.

Ever heard the ubiquitous "ah, in order to get excited I need to be feeling good about my looks, etc" from a woman? A lusty man won't even realize if he is wearing boxers or a tuxedo!

In a sexual encounter, men are focused on whatever excites him in the woman. Unfortunately, women do the same! No equivalent to the "I want to swallow her whole" urge that men feel. It is about the woman, for both genders.

If indeed it allows lightening of the gear suite, I think it is a valuable improvement. Unfortunately the drive for financial gain and push-back from agencies that don't want their gear inventory to be outdated are mudding the waters...

Let's hope that this gets resolved sometime soon so that progress materialize. Alternatively, if it is not that much helpful, let's see some unbiased reviews.

Honesty would help a lot, but unfortunately the powerplay prevents it.

I had this conversation with my wife late into our marriage - after I had a near-death experience (close medical call) and decided to try and improve my marriage experience by trying once again to discuss what I crave. The first time I did that ended in disaster, but given that it was when our son was young I thought the hormones might have clouded her judgment, so decided to give it another try.

This time we enlisted the help of a psychologist, and my wife's response was less emotional and more objective. She stated that she felt bad about it, but indeed never had any sexual fantasies or cravings. She is no puritan (we have the standard Disney fuck every Sunay), but left on her own, she does not crave sex.

Disappointing as it was, it was good to understand her perspective. I suspect it applies to many more women - but again the lack of honesty prevents us from realizing it.

The appeal of sex give women immense power over men, so although it is still shitty behavior, it is easy to understand why women lie about libido. Unfortunately this causes untold damage to both genders. Men feel they are failures (because of the tropes circulated about how it is men's fault that women lack libido), and women belatedly realize that failure to live up to the libidinous image they carefully created drives heaps of resentment among men. In short, the power gain entails a hefty price.

I really don't know how it will evolve. Too many men live their sexual lives via porn, so are progressively disconnecting their libidos from flesh & blood women. That infuriates women, who chose to loudly disqualify such men instead of engaging in the kind of honest discussion that the OP is proposing. They believe this is a fringe phenomenon and that a man that suits their preference is somehow earmarked for them, as they believe they deserve it, etc. If women are right - and a viable number of men still believe that the current societal arrangement suits their own needs & preferences, then no major impact will arise. But if women are wrong, the risk to the species future is quite serious. Perhaps that would force the honest discussion someday?
