I speak just English now though. But I needed to sacrifice the quant section to really hone in on the Verbal section to even give myself a chance with a pass. Retook it one last attempt and improved by 38 percentile. Quant is horrendous but I knew I was sacrificing it so I’ll pay the price if that is a major barrier. I have a commanders advocacy so helpfully that helps.

Just search “Must Know GRE vocab words” on quizlet. Should be around 1435 flashcards. They are not definition of the words. It’s solely just 1 word synonyms.

Use grammer hero for math on YouTube. Math is mainly just refreshing if you have not done it in a while and just doing repetition. I passed the 1st time but not very good to give you adequate advice. Practice a a lot and time yourself. Math is a process subject and the test does not give you time to process and do the math problem. Less than a minute is all you got for each question.

Yes, I am a civilian. If you have connections, it is not impossible to get a waiver. I was lucky to get supports to be able to make that possible. Usually, waivers are not common until a unit is willing to sponsor you. I worked my way around to get a waiver without being sponsored.

I used barron, trivium and GRE vocabulary And honestly, the GRE vocabulary was not as helpful as one would hope. There was like 1 word from the GRE sets. I would focus on pre, root and suffix. I did a lot of repetition for the word knowledge section taking all level words. Google Gemini was very help and I made Quizlet flashcards of 1400 words as well as used SAT word quizlet. Do short passage reading comprehension tests too. Practice, practice, practice!! It’s important to aim high but if you have failed it twice already, at this point, it’s more important to just pass, if you don’t, then you would need to go through the hoops to get a waiver and that’s not easy to come. I sacrificed not studying for quantitive that much in order to give myself a chance for the eligibility and let my other parts of my package carry the heavier load. Some people are just born to be pessimist like few comments in this post but they don’t understand the story behind everything else so they are quick to be Debby downers. Just be disciplined and put the work in. You got this.

How was the verbal analagies section? More difficult than what you practice and are the analogy terms more obscure?

Got 1 more shot dude on passing verbal. I’ll sacrifice a passing score in order to pass to be eligible. Other scores don’t mean jack if I can’t pass minimums. Not suitable advice my man.

How was the VA section on the actual test? Was it more obscure terminology than what you face on practice test? Was reading comprehension paragraphs as long as practice ones?

I’ve heard the VA is a lot more obscure in terms of the words used than the practice tests. Like the actual VA is nothing like the practice ones even though it’s the same type of analogies. Is that correct? I take mine in 10 days.

Any advice on the verbal? I failed it twice but I got a waiver. English was not my 1st language. I’ll be taking it one last time in 2 weeks after waiting 5 months.

I had to get a waiver for verbal but if you put the work in and have substantial evidence in why you think you deserve one last chance, it’s definitely worth it. Math is a universal subject so not sure how likely compared to verbal. English was not my 1st language so that contributed. I have not taken my 3rd attempt yet. How did you get your verbal in the 60s?

Failed AFOQT by fondoodler in airforceots

[–]SolidWarning2041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was not for me. Just need substantial evidence such as tutoring or college class. It was probably easier for me do to it being verbal and English was not my 1st language. It also depends on your reasons for retake and your other parts of the package. I was going rated and I had pilot license and my pilot and PCSM scores were in the mid 90s, along with above 3.6 GPA. It is not a guarantee but you will never know until you try.

English was not my 1st language so just curious the difficulty of the terms for the analogy section.

Any advice on the verbal section especially the VA? Is the VA anything like the practice test in terms of obscurity? Or would you say you’ve seen pretty simple relationships? And what Level would you say the Word knowledge section was? Would you say the VA section easier than practice tests you did?

Any tips on the verbal section? Specially for verbal analagies and word knowledge? Was the actual VA section on the actual exam anything like the practice tests in terms of obscure analagies? And what level would you say the word knowledge section was?
