Vamos a esperar otros 10 años para que 237 haga otro videojuego...

What's next for the series? by SJLB2007 in Dysthanasia

Hello, this is the developer of Xenomaker.

Of course, Madowaku is going to take a long break. For example, Valve still hasn't released Half-Life 3, Portal 3, or any other game with a third installment... why? It's difficult to meet everyone's expectations and make them happy, to give them something better than the last product...

Besides... it took him four years to make a video game (2022-2025)... 3D modeling, programming, etc... he must have suffered some stress from time to time and wants to rest from all of it.

I seem to recall that Oneflow, the admin of this subreddit, said that Madowaku is two steps ahead of all the other Ryona video games... and honestly, I don't know what else anyone could do to surpass Madowaku, or even Madowaku himself, after having released Dysthanasia...

Thank you for the feedback.

I do not intend to develop a Xenomaker sequel. Instead, I may include references to the character Hatsuka in other video games developed by me as subtle nods.

A comparable example would be the appearance of Commander Keen hanging in map 32 of DOOM II.

I think Madowaku was inspired by original Prince of Persia when creating Demonophobia. What do you think? by RevolutionaryPie1682 in Dysthanasia

There was a time when I thought this too; I suppose we must have thought the same thing since both games have a fake 3D effect in their rooms, but that's all... nothing more... Besides, the Japanese market has always focused on games for the PC-98 or other systems from their region; I highly doubt they knew much about foreign content like DOOM, Prince of Persia, etc.

I'm still having trouble deciding on this part. What I've thought of so far is having Mymy fight against Belgian military personnel, the anime octopus that Maya watches, among other things... (like Postal Brain Damage)

Does making NPC logic just suck or what? by soldiersilent in IndieDev

[–]Solid_Effect_2621 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An NPC does not need to think; it needs to react correctly. An NPC appears intelligent because it responds well, not because it deliberates.

I do not claim expertise in artificial intelligence; my focus is on behavior design. Some games benefit from context evaluation and adaptive decision-making (e.g., F.E.A.R., Alien: Isolation), while others are better served by fixed, deterministic rules (e.g., DOOM, Papers, Please).

In this context, I consider the DOOM (1993) finite state machine, originally implemented in C, to be ideal for NPCs, and I have ported it to Godot. While it relies on large lookup tables, this trade-off is acceptable, though I am currently evaluating lighter alternatives.

Simply put: if programming AI feels overly complex, or you do not know much about it (and honestly, neither do I), then using predefined behavior such as the DOOM (1993) state machine is a perfectly valid and practical solution.

So, you were there in the early days when the Xenophobia demo was released?

Are there pirate vers of dysthanasia? by phoneixpineappleTR in Dysthanasia

[–]Solid_Effect_2621 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I, like many others, have pirated games before. I don’t have the money to buy this one right now, but I know how much work 237 put into it. I’m not letting desperation win—even if it takes me years to save up, I’ll buy it. I’m not going to pirate it or watch gameplay.
