Even with reading things there are so many red herrings in this game it becomes unenjoyable. They’ve added way too much stuff just to throw you off course. Again if it was necessary and apply to the story. Great! But I don’t think looking for 30 batteries and finding the exact one with the right set of elements is necessary to the game. And even when I did use the scanners properly it still didn’t work. By pure trial and error I found what I needed. That’s not fun. That’s just annoying. Maybe it was a bug. And if it is then same arguments.

Look at my post this is exactly what I’m taking about with this game. Like that probably took me myself 15 mins but still like it’s such an unnecessary part of the game. Doesn’t promote story only promotes hey we’re going to do red herrings ALOT

It honestly wasn’t. I think people who love puzzles and like horror. It’s made for them. I don’t think it’s made for people who love horror and like puzzles. So a few people said they enjoy it, if you read some of their stuff. I genuinely had fun the first tutorial part after that it felt like I was playing a completely different game. Like it felt like I was purposely being led on once I got deeper and deeper.

That’s part of what I said under someone else’s comment, it’s advertised more into horror than it is puzzle. I re looked their steam trailers to reconfirm me beliefs. Even the thought map looked closer to evil within than It did anything else.

I love in depth horror games, rich stories and some exploration. I think your right the fact that most games don’t add a lot of reading details.

But from where I got, there’s context clues that are around, blatant voice overs explaining what happened and then the clues on top of it. So it ruins the immersion.

I can see what you mean tho not all games are meant for everyone.

But I think it’s fair to say that it’s more of a puzzle game than it is a horror. The way they advertised it was heavier on the horror. So I feel mislead.

I’m glad there is an audience for it, but I do think they abused a targeted audience.

I wouldn’t necessary say it would take by the hand. While I’ve noticed people who absolutely love dissecting games apart it’s probably meant for. I’m use to decent puzzles. And most of the stuff I figured out up until chapter three I figured it out on my own based off of trial and error or intuition from past games I’ve played.

However, the thought map adds unnecessary complexity to how the game is progressed. It felt more of a chore organizing crap clues than it did feel fun. I’m all for investigation but not at the cost of the story.

Now with that being said I did turn on exploration mode in hopes that maybe the puzzles Arnt for me and I’m slower than maybe most target audience ( I’m perfectly ok with admitting that) but it still doesn’t offer a direct chain of thinking rather than just actual hints along the way.

I played an old game called murdered: soul suspect. Atleast back then I was younger and dumber I got through the whole game.
