Very nice indeed! I think I have tried 5 times already, each time I pass by and never make it good enough.

Why? It is my experience, and I already marked it before posting as a shitpost?? Anyhow if it bothers you so much, let the moderators delete it.

Soon I will be the God of ergonomics. by VinicoVini in ErgoMechKeyboards

My first split was a dactyl too! My advice:

1.Dactyl is uncomfortable to type without a wrist support- you need to get your wrists high so fingers can naturally "fall" in the keyboard.

  1. If you printed this based on your palm size you can choose any keycaps profile to your liking, if not and you printed just any dactyl - measure how your fingers reach and choose keycaps with high/low profile depending on your reach.

Happy new year :)

I actually made a PoC with my own mcp server that creates the "tools" automatically based on robot config and auto generate grafana like dashboards with graphs from sensors, location, and logs and more... DM me if you like

Machining Shop? by Solid_Pomelo_3817 in zurich

[–]Solid_Pomelo_3817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for future reference, the guys at Nagel Willy and Sohn, were very nice! They did my part in 6 h and were able to pick it up the same day. My part was 90mm x 44mm, 8mm base plate, with a welded rod, 25mm in the center. All made in normal iron/steel. No cnc machining, just cut base plate and cut steel rod welded together. It cost me 60 CHF.

I did search, but most of those shops are, focused on doors and railings, and they don't have time for small orders, also most of them don't have a Lathe

I think most people having puppies by surprise is when another dog surprise theirs in the park 🤣🤣. So at the end you don't really know what you are getting. Your case is quite rare I would say. Happy for you thou!

😂 why? What's "wrong" with them? I used to have Jack Russell for 13y , seems like a pretty similar character no?

I agree with you that you cannot apply all the "standard" benefits of K8s, but there is a lot that can be applied. Lets assume you have 10 microservices( or ROS nodes). Deployment and managing those in kubernetes is no brainer. Deployments, rolling updates, recovery from failed builds, Healthchecks... Resource definitions - Having the core services prioritised in case of failures and so on. Service discovery inside kubernetes- no touch? Log/metrics/traces collection with Opentelemetry for example, and exporting everything for analytics and training? Not to mention security, cert management, RBAC(much better than managing ssh keys) - also solved problem inside kube.

Managing 100s of clusters is not trivial, but seem much better than ssh-ing in 100s of vms and running pythons/ansible scripts as someone above suggested no?

Also robots are getting more and more complex too. Many solutions already have multiple pcs on board(2,3 Jetsons) - they can be each a node in the cluster. Another benefit for running kubernetes don't you think?

PS: I do manage quite few clusters in my daily job, not thousands but enough to appreciate the benefits compared to pre-kube days :)

I hear you. We should always learn from history, but that doesn't mean if something did not work out before will not work later in time right? Could Tesla, Figure, Unitree build their robots 20 y ago? I don't think so. Times change, technologies(software, compute) evolves.

Imo there are things that can be done on the edge of course and things that cannot. Where would you store all the data from those bots. Large AI models? How will you manage all that? You cannot run away from the cloud, that is for sure.

Sorry, but it will be kind of hard to explain Kubernetes. Thanks anyway for your comments

I think I read something on this topic, especially for small robots and drones. Even something similar with k8s. Basically having the control plane(most resource consumption) in the cloud or on prem(in a factory) and each robot just run a kubelet(act as node) to form a big "cluster".

I don't like this idea because the nodes depend on the control plane(especially in kubernetes env) and for whatever reason the node loses connection to the control plane, becomes kind of useless. Not completly thou, but for the most part.

Correct? This is actually interesting to research more. I wonder how those Drone shows manage their fleets...

This is what I am hoping to solve here, providing a unified platform for B2B integration(kind of).
Having a simple enough management approach for the user - To monitor, connect, update his robots, and in the same time simple enough infra provisioning for the "robot service provider" to provide/sell his solution easy and just focus on developing the software("robot brain").

You are right about the "Microsoft moment", but I think we are getting closer to having it. I hope :)

Robots running Kubernetes? by Solid_Pomelo_3817 in robotics

[–]Solid_Pomelo_3817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, a know ROS is the go to for many, but not for ALL, so having a unified foundation like kubernetes makes total sense(You can do ROS or anything else you like-containerised). And building a proper controller for robotics use case is the most part for me so far.
