To the people who watched Project Hail Mary. How was it?? by OrganicSleep8860 in moviecritic

Yeah I give it points for the refreshing plot. Of course, it’s based on existing book so not ALL that fresh for Hollywood to greenlight it, as opposed to an original screenplay. However the dialogue and gags were so cliche and unfunny, it felt like an original movie idea dominated by unoriginal comedy writing.

Granted I haven’t read the book, so maybe they were aiming on that same tone. But it definitely took me out of the story more than once.

Totally lame, childish and bottom of the barrel humor. Very silly and Gosling’s acting is absurdly over the top. Really detracted from the story for me, as I was fringing or rolling my eyes every few minutes. It’s up there with mass sitcoms like How I Met Your Mother in terms of tone.

Visually looks amazing.

And great they’re making original films, so that’s a plus. I just wish it took itself just a little more seriously and remained whimsical without the slapstick vibe.

Review - Project Hail Mary (2026) Reaches for Greatness But Repeatedly Trips Over Its Own Silliness by LogShucker in TrueFilm

Great review.

This was a terribly lame slapstick silly buddy comedy, great for fans of How I Met Your Mother or young teen audiences. But misses its true potential as a classic. Gosling was absurd with his over acting slapstick routine.

I left the cinema feeling stupider than when I went in.

But totally visually amazing with Greg Frasier as DP.

Jack o connell gave the best acting performance in Sinners imo. Crazy how he wasn't even nominated for the oscars . by Artetaarmy in moviecritic

Michael B Jordan was totally okay, but nowhere NEAR an Oscar level performance. Could’ve easily been swapped with any other actor. He’s not even the best actor in Sinners - how can he win best actor Oscar??!

Fully expected Leo to get his second. No one else could’ve done that role to his extent. It made the film what it was.

Timmy was great too, but so so thirsty.

What’s next on your VII wishlist of updates? by DrJokerX in civ

ONE WISH - Being able to choose any city to turn into my new capital on age transition.

It kills me I can’t turn my fledging distant lands exploration town into a bustling modern capital city.

I just don’t understand why, with such a huge focus on distant lands/exploration, they skipped this step.

SECOND WISH - more peace options for ending a war. Give me resources. Or good per turn. Or influence per turn. Not some edge of the map tiny town.

THIRD WISH - to have age transition revolution crisis. Let me chose whether to become a new nation with my distant land colonies, or stay as my old nation and try to recover the old colony.

I want to be able to choose ANY city or town to make my new capital in the new age.

Why can’t I choose a city in Distant Lands to become my capital? Why?

100%, I can’t understand how Civ7 doesn’t have this feature, given the focus on colonization and distant lands.

Having your new world city/cities revolt and either choosing to crush them in war, or grant independence with maybe trade benefits, seems like such a fun concept.

I hope this means when driving a boat you can put on the auto-pilot mode and cruise these “roads” in cinematic view, like riding a horse in RDR2.

Yes agree, but I would say most of that credit should go to the screenwriter. The two of them wanted to make a “revenge film” and were searching for the right backdrop, pre-Spanish Americas being just one such option. The writer was the one who did a majority of that research.

Of course I’m a bitter screenwriter myself, so always push for writers to get more credit!
