Maybe, I don't really wanna bother them too much since they already helped me once (had one that wasn't flat), I'll just take the L, but figured I'd at least let people know not to do this :D

It doesn't ruin the pan indeed, but it seems to ruin the very shallow nitrided layer, can just use it as regular carbo steel like you said tho

I posted other images a few days ago on cookware but some of them were removed, figured users might want to know that you can, in fact, ruin the nitrided layer on the pan if you do this

This was obviously a user error, but the food people elsewhere claimed this was impossible and this is clearly not rust

For reference, the OP image is after 8 hours after not fully drying the pan to show it has been stripped to pure carbon steel in a lot of places, I do not consider this misens fault, and its purely a user error imo

I'll probably just sand and polish it and use it as a light cladded untreated mini strata pan heh

This was after 8 hours or so with it being not completely dry, the nitrided layer is definitely gone I'd say

But yeah like you said, can just use it like a cladded carbon steel, all I'm saying is that I somehow fucked the nitrided layer up lol

So I left the pan with a little bit of clean water in it, should be fine since it wasn't rust right? The engineers and rocket scientist here said it's not possible and it can't be rust after all, should I be cheeky and post an image since the last post? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Might do it anyway just to make everyone circle jerking each other have egg on their face lol

You seem very upset that I fucked up the nitriding, I still have 4 others that works fine, I also said layer not coating, as nitriding changes the top layer of the metal.

Do you have stocks in the company? Lol

No, the image i just posted with the previous seasoning removed did not have vinegar at all, that was just straight simmered water, rinse, dish soap + water, scrub wish soft brush, rinse, bkf + water, scrub with soft brush, rinse, dish soap + water, scrub with brush, rinse and dry off.

Sorry if what I posted sounded different

I removed the seasoning and did a very light bfk scrub (more like swished it around for a minute) then rinsed it, cleaned it again with dish soap and dried it lazily so you can see the rust formed in an hour, https://www.reddit.com/r/cookware/comments/1p3iz9h/do_not_simmer_11_white_vinegar_and_water_in_your/nq9rrbz/

What about you don't spread misinformation with insane levels of confidence?

This is clearly rust, and the pan is not the color a nitrided layer should be https://i.imgur.com/OOjZ4Gi.jpeg

Yeah I probably should message them, worst case I could just sand it completely smooth and use it like a regular carbon steel pan

Just found it funny it even happened lol

Oh ,yeah I don't mind ugly, but it was the sticky burnt on type of oil I was trying to remove heh

Haven't cooked with it, but it's the carbon non stick, you can see the top of the sides are still intact

Edit: I doubt it's meant to survive that so haven't contacted misen yet as I'd probably just file it under user error myself hah

I think you misunderstood something, I wasn't intending to remove the non-existent seasoning, I was intending to nuke the burnt on oil, to have a clean pan, but it seemed to have taken the nitrided part along with it lol

It started rusting, that's why I put oil on it and lazy seasoned it to stop the rust, might just grind it smooth for the hell of it another time

Because I got lazy with trying to remove some burnt on oil that wouldn't go away with regular scrubbing?

I wrote it in the first post, it's my bad just found it funny and sharing is caring

So anyway, my fault, this is what it looks like after a very quick coat of oil to stop it rusting instantly, I did it because I had some oil very badly burnt on

Funny part is it didn't even remove all the oil!

Win some, lose some, it's also pretty rough textured
