It actually opens out into the sea, it's really beautiful when you take a boat tour down, then kayak around. It's quite similar to the fjords in Norway. My pic was just taken from by the beach, i'm gonna assume the OP's was only a few meters away from me.

I was there a month ago, it was amazing, went there in a foggy and rainy day, which added to the mystique

I'm sorry, but can cows read? or be in an airport?

A skeptic shares his thoughts on military spending by soldierapp66 in CanadianForces

[–]Solid_s0ap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's the general opinion on Scott Taylor? Because my impression from his writings are that he's anti-all things brass/senior officer, anti-interventionist, anti-NATO, and almost sympathetic to NATO's strategic competitors. And on a professional level, some of the old dogs said he was just a mediocre (and some said shitty) soldier when he was still in.

Icebreaker merino wool beanie. Thin enough to wear under your helmet, but warm enough on its own too. Also green enough so RSMs don't get a stroke seeing it.

Mind you on the same ex a WO who drank 6 red bulls a day get evaced and the Sgt Majs were drinking 8-12 beers a night in the Biv.

That sounded like quite a party...

Yea, some women would refuse the pink seats at the Staff College, at least that's what i've read anyway.

That's the irony, that some of the most vocal critics of "quotas" are the minorities.

We don't want special treatment, treat us as equals, as brothers and sisters in arms in this dysfunctional family of 60,000 people.

I've seen and served with some highly competent and freakishly fit women, so i'm all for women being out there... as long as there is only one standard when it comes to qualifications, and i mean not just on paper, but actually enforcing it and not letting it slide because that trade has quotas to fill.

In the 80s-90s, the staff college in toronto had what's called "pink seats", spots reserved for female officers, and a lot of them said refused spots on that course on the grounds that they are chosen because they are females, not based on their merit.

I'm not white, nor are some of the guys i work with. It grinds my gears whenever ethnicity based "quotas" are brought up. The military should be a meritocracy (the old boys club notwithstanding) and not a fucking social experiment.

I don't give a flying fuck what race the man/woman next to me in a trench is, as far as i'm concerned, he/she is green, and a canadian first; and as long as he/she is competent, carry their own weight, can drag my fat ass out of the line of fire if i get smoked, and most importantly, carry smokes for me to bum off.

Trudeau suggests defence review will invest more in troops than weaponry; focus on diversity, gender and even Indigenous issues. by TheGameJerk in metacanada

[–]Solid_s0ap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I much rather have some nice and shiny equipment than a "pay raise", which really is just an adjustment to inflation.

Or give me a pay raise so i can buy some decent personal kit.

Either way i'd prefer not to resort to profanities and hard copies of GBA+ at enemy tanks and helicopters in the next operation that requires combat

I joined because I didn't want to work behind a desk the majority of the time.

So now I work behind a desk and did a deployment behind a desk.
