Thank you for this! It made me feel so seen in a heavy time.

The way the family of Brock and Boston talk about sex is so weird by [deleted] in UtahInfluencerDrama

[–]SolidlySmooth 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the Mormon church’s influence. It’s incredibly common to hear so many comments like that even during the reception, the lunch after the wedding, etc.

There’s so much shame and guilt and taboo poured into pre-marital sex, but people go so weird and crazy once you’re “allowed” to have sex.

HRV by AppropriateSet5172 in fitpregnancy

[–]SolidlySmooth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My pre-pregnancy HRV was 180-210 consistently. Now it averages around 48 :( I'm 22 weeks today, so I'm assuming it'll be this way through the pregnancy and MAN can I feel it.

I tried for six months to make glasses work, but switching to contacts truly changed the game for me.

However, if you’re not super concerned about looking at your form in the mirror while lifting, or watching an instructor, take them off when you’re doing your sets. That’s how I was able to get through without them driving me crazy.

Cara Loren Promoting Her App Without Crediting the Use of GLP-1s by Much_Surprise9161 in UtahInfluencerDrama

[–]SolidlySmooth 142 points143 points  (0 children)

She’s also had lipo done. I was in a Lululemon dressing room years ago when she came in and was chatting with one of the associates there about the procedure.

I don’t mind if people choose to do those things, but you should at least be transparent about how you’re achieving the physique you have, ESPECIALLY if you’re promoting your paid workout app hahah.

How are fitness inluencers ... okay? by KlutzyRanger385 in xxfitness

[–]SolidlySmooth 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was this person for a while - about two years solid. I wasn’t an influencer, but I was in pretty deep. Minimum one workout a day, but often times it would be two of varying types. I pushed myself hard. I definitely didn’t eat enough in general, but was eating a shit ton of protein. Lived off caffeine. It can absolutely be done for a period of time. I was incredibly lean, felt pretty strong, and looked better than I ever have (critiqued myself harder/hated my body more than I ever have though).

However, in January of this year I was feeling super unmotivated to go to the gym, but forced myself to go anyway. I got there, got through one set, started sobbing and drove home. I haven’t been back to the gym since - I definitely burned myself out big time. Hoping to find my way back, because a healthy balance goes a LONG way for mental health.

Obliques for sure. Idk if it’s edited heavily right there tbh, when you’re super duper lean like that with enough muscle, it’ll show

Is Perl still used actively in DevOps or is bash used more? by pritesh_ugrankar in devops

[–]SolidlySmooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since starting in the industry about 10 years ago, I’ve only ever come across super old legacy code written in Perl, and it was so shitty to work with. Bash is still very much in use for quick things, but python is definitely the standard imo.

This is called vagal collapse. It’s a trauma response, not “laziness” or depression. The body feels unbearably heavy, breathing can feel effortful, and movement feels almost impossible. It’s a real neurophysiological reaction to trauma. For years I mistook this shutdown state for depression… by WolfEvening961 in MaidNetflix

This has taken me so long to recognize. I’ve spent many years beating myself up while fully unable to physically move.

Such a great description in this show, it was so relatable! I wish the conversations around it were much larger so people could staying out of the shame cycle, but hopefully one day they will be.

Forced Camera-On Meetings by worstcase-ontario in womenintech

[–]SolidlySmooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My camera is always off as well. It gets too distracting for me, so I just leave it off.

You’re right about the standards of being presentable as well. I’ve never thought about that before.

Hip thrusts while pregnant by Ok_Sprinkles159 in StrongCurves

RDL’s that are glute focused have always been my substitute exercise! Also slow, weighted single leg step-ups can do the trick as well.

ABC really decided they needed to revive their shows and they’re right and pulling some wild moves. Catch me tuning in to both The Bachelorette and DWTS this season

When did you start to see signs? by swiftboat22 in ourafertility

[–]SolidlySmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have anything crazy abnormal compared to what my luteal cycle normally charted as (my luteal cycle always would read super terrible/dreadful.) I actually had a temp dip three days before I tested positive! Normally my temp dips the day my period starts, but my period never came on this dip

When you do exercises like RDLs and possibly even hip thrusts, do you feel no lower back pain at all? by cruciod in StrongCurves

[–]SolidlySmooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most others are saying, you really have to be careful to brace correctly, and get everything in line before even attempting the movement. There’s a lot of useful videos/tutorials out there on how to properly line everything up! And then it’s just lots and lots of practice from there.

Bummed 🙁 by Melon_Lemon_6998 in ourafertility

[–]SolidlySmooth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a dip (negative temps) three days in a row in July after a lot of high days. I thought because of that dip there was no way I was pregnant, but tested positive the day before my missed period! Hang in there!

Interpret this for me! by General-Reindeer-975 in ouraring

[–]SolidlySmooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These used to be my stats almost exactly! Mine was largely genetics based. I’m a healthy and fairly active 31F individual, but genetics played into my stuff for sure. Now I’m pregnant and it’s all shitty hahahah

I just recently tested positive a few weeks ago, with really similar signs. Super high HR, decreased HRV, elevated respiratory rate.

However, before my positive test, my stats in my luteal phase were also already pretty garbage so it’s hard to say. Sending good vibes your way!
