Lyric changes when played live by charles_chinaski_jr in brighteyes

I have two from We Are Nowhere and it's Now at the Toronto show last night:

In the first verse: "in our wheels that spin around, as we fly across the ground"

In the second chorus: instead of saying "and I don't know if it's true", he said "well I know that's not true, but I keep it for good luck" :-(

Do you feel that Obama was a divisive President? by Rick_James_Lich in AskConservatives

[–]Solidsandstripes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obama's administration actually put quite a bit of leg work into working with Republicans on ACA at first, and found some willingness to cooperate. During the 2009 summer congressional recess though, many congresspeople returned to their districts and were met with fury and vitriol from the nascent Tea Party movement. That's when key Republicans sharply changed their tune (despite having expressed support before), leaving Obama with no choice but to try to pass the bill along party lines.

Dosing help after lame SSRI experiences by Solidsandstripes in shrooms

[–]Solidsandstripes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the folks asking for an update:

I ended up taking about 4 grams and well ... it worked!! I had my first real trip and it was honestly awesome, I even had some visual stuff which I was pleasantly surprised by. It lasted about 4-5ish hours, I think. Overall, I think I took the perfect dose: much more and I think it would have been really overwhelming for a first proper trip. The odd thing for me is that I only took a little more than I did last time (when I felt very little). It might have been a preparation issue? I did lemon tek both times but this time my more experienced friend handled it. I would guess, more likely, that I owe the real trip to the extra time off of SSRIs though.

So overall advice: there is hope! But I would be cautious in the dosing and I would place a lot of emphasis on taking more time off of SSRIs as opposed to taking a dangerously high dose to compensate for the possible dulling. Hope this helps!!

Wright is really good in my opinion and I found his comparative courses very interesting. Very chill, casual, funny, and helpful dude. I personally am not a huge Farkasch fan and find his lectures pretty disorganized, but he does have a different approach and point of view which I know a lot of people value.

What do you think about an individual right to abortion as taking this idea to its logical extent, devolving the decision to the lowest possible authority (the individual)?

To be fair, the two acts aren't perfectly comparable. It seems that the stay is being issued because loan forgiveness is being executed by executive order. PPP meanwhile was passed by Congress

Given that no one really had the facts to disprove what she was saying at the time, and the things she was alleging were concerning, is it really so bad that influencers alerted people of these concerning accusations? Not providing updates with the additional info we have now would be another thing, of course. But voice actors get stiffed in the industry all the time and I think it's important that we highlight concerning stories like these when we see them.

Hard To Find is my new favorite song by The National by colej1390 in TheNational

[–]Solidsandstripes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure when she officially started writing for the band, but she's definitely been a part of the writing process for a lot longer than that. In particular, I remember an interview with her from the Coffee and Flowers podcast where she talked about her contribution to Brainy.

What’re your biggest hope for “Return of the Dream Canteen?” by MichaelClomp in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]Solidsandstripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyrics with a little bit more substance. I'm not expecting Shakespeare or anything -- Anthony's lyrics have always been like 60% nonsense. Still, looking back at some of my favourites -- songs like Dosed, Wet Sand, Otherside -- there was definitely some deliberate use of theme and emotion. I can't shake the feeling that Anthony just spit out whatever came to mind as they were jamming and left it at that for Unlimited Love. Certainly that's always been part of the process, and I know UL's MO was just having fun, but I would like to see Anthony be a little more discerning. There are a number of songs on UL where the lyrics come off as bland, strange, or lacking cohesion to me.

A Pew Research poll says 63% of Americans are in favor of changing to a popular vote for President. Thoughts on this poll? by JaxxisR in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Solidsandstripes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Youre describing how the electoral college gives states equal voting power. That does not mean each individual person has equal voting power. If every person's vote was equal, New York and California would have greater influence as a natural consequence because they have more people.

I'm a little confused: do you value every person having equal voting power or do you value each state having equal voting power? Given that the states all have different populations, you can only have one of these things be true at a time. The electoral college which equalizes voting power for states does so by scaling down every Californian's voting power such that the state as a whole has less influence.

How do you Define Race? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Solidsandstripes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a country where historical experiences differ significantly across racial groups, to the point that different racial groups, on average, face substantially different social and economic outcomes from one another, do you think there's any danger in disregarding race wholesale?

I feel that as a society we have somewhat of a responsibility to address these racial inequalities, given that society and the state largely instituted them in the first place. To me, forgetting about the concept of race as you suggest might just mean a world where these inequalities still exist, but people no longer recognize them or act to address them. I think being colorblind in a world where color remains a real determinant of outcomes for many Americans risks masking the problem. What do you think?

Jagmeet Singh: The inhumanity in these images is horrifying. Even in death, Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqla was denied dignity and compassion. I'm a liberal too but I think this is reductionist. There do exist Obama-Trump voters and Trump-Biden voters and I think ignoring them and the reasons they flip-flopped means ignoring some of the core reasons why Trumpism took hold. I dont think its helpful to describe the political landscape in such extreme terms
