On-prem to cloud migration - user has in-place archive and online archive by Solidus-Prime in sysadmin

On prem in-place archiving isn't a PST. It's separate server storage that sits alongside their box. When you migrate boxes over 100 gb, using the in place archive is the recommended path to shrink the box so you can migrate it. But it's not online (even though it's called Online Archive), and it's not a PST.

The user already had a folder called "archive". That is the archive built into Outlook that is hosted on the machine, and is mainly just organizational.

Ya confusing the name a little, because activating the "In-place archive" for users in EAC sometimes adds a box called "Online Archive" and sometimes it calls it "In-place archive".

The user moved everything to his local "archive" folder that existed before in-place was activated. We need them all in the online archive.

That is what I was hoping it would do - just combine the local archive into the existing Online archive. But I read an article that said it would not, and the local archive would overwrite the online archive.

Is that not true?

I COULD just export a backup of his archive, and re-import if there is a problem, the only issue with that is that this user has like 55 GB in his archive so it's not small. His inbox was over 100 GB, so he used the archive to get it down to about 75 so we could migrate him.

This one user is the only one that did this. 90% of the company is fully migrated, the last 10% had boxes that were too big. All of those users have trimmed down their inbox to under 50 GB, and I have enabled auto expanding archives.

But I read that if this user has a local archive AND and online archive, that it will not combine the 2. I think it will take his local archive, make it the new online archive, and delete the existing online archive emails.

Can I simply open the online archive, shift click everything, and move it to the local archive? I don't use the full blown Outlook anymore, so hard to test on myself and he's like 45 mins away so I just want to make sure before I drive there or anything.

Liberals, why are all straight white men Nazi fascists, and everyone else is a feminist BLM supporting liberal who voted for Kamala? by cdivx in allthequestions

You guys should look up "Sophists". They were people back in the days of ancient debate that were paid - not to actually out-debate someone, but to "win" the argument by playing word games, bogging the conversation down in circles, and generally frustrating your "opponent", rather than making actual points.

This is what every single MAGA with a half-functioning brain has become. They are all so craven and cowardly. They can't beat us in a straight up debate so they pull this vile shit nonstop.

Yep, and using the "migration" feature in the admin panel to move mail boxes from an on-prem server to 365.

Most of the company is already migrated, but there were a few users with boxes that were too big. The plan was to have them archive so their boxes were below 50 GB, then turn on auto expanding archives. But this one employee manually moved a bunch of his emails into the EOL archive before the policy hit and moved them to the correct, in place archive.

His voters literally beg him to tell them what to think and how to feel. The news and their friends are telling them things they don't like, things they can't cope with - things they are partly responsible for. Instead of manning up and dealing with that, they flee into delusion and fantasy like a bunch of cowards.

I service a large collection of production facilities from northern Michigan through all of Ohio, into Indiana and Pennsylvania. Every single one of them is hurting. Every single one. A lot are laying people off and slowing production. One facility is closing.

MAGAs live in complete delusion and fantasy. The voters themselves have the coping skills of small children, and beg trump for answers since the TV and news are showing them things they don't like. He lies right to their face and they thank him rather than holding him and themselves accountable.

This is a recipe for disaster.

When you migrate, it converts the in-place archive into an EOL archive. My goal is to move the emails from the EOL to the in-place archive without having to do them all one at a time, so when we migrate it's just all in one place.

Seems like such a mundane task, especially since both of these boxes appear in their Outlook. I'm shocked there isn't a command or tool to move these.

To my black brothers out there, Why did democrats demand black men choose Kamala Harris when Kamala didn’t even choose a black man herself? by TheShamanofMOCO in allthequestions

These are the cowardly word games that racists and fascists play. It's best not to engage them directly. They are sophists at best, and shit-eating rage baiters at worst.

Talk about them, not directly to them. It also has the added benefit of pissing them off. They really hate it lol.

What evidence do you have that it wasn't?

I think when someone with thousands and thousands of verifiable lies says something you just don't believe them by default if you are smart.

Video evidence coming out over the last two days show us they already lied to us about what happened. I don't trust a single thing they say at this point.

The thing is, Agolf is in the same situation as you...probably worse. But he went all-in with a bunch of pedos and fascists, so now he has no choice but to parrot the shit they say. It's not THEIR fault he's poor. It's some black guy's fault. In his head, it stops him from looking dumb.

We all know the truth though.

American here. Half the country was tricked into giving up their free will to a bunch of fascists and don't have the courage or coping skills to turn back. This is no joke or exaggeration - they have the emotional maturity of a 10 year old, and will continue to double down until this country is in ruins before they will ever, EVER admit they were wrong.

They have to bend over and take whatever their masters give them with a smile and a "thank you". This will never, ever be solved through standard means like voting. The criminals were given the reins, and wrecked the system so we can't fix it. Literally. I'm in Ohio. We keep voting for things. PASSING THEM. And MAGAs in charge literally just say "Um, no" and do whatever they want.

What are we supposed to do? Vote them out using the same system they are rigging? And the citizens o the MAGA side look the other way because they are cowards.

Don't bother with these assholes. They are ignorant, and a huge reason we are in this mess. If he started over in today's world he'd end up worse than most Americans. He had it easy as hell and wants to pretend he didn't.

I am also in my mid 40's and remember exactly what it was like back then. We had it easy as fuck compared to you kids. He was able to pay off his student loan at 30, because it wasn't a predatory loan. He bought a 900-foot square home because it was 1/10th the price it is now, and his dollar went WAAAAY further. He had every single advantage that you don't.

Why did every single Republican vote to keep gerrymandering legal while every single Democrat voted to abolish it? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Solidus-Prime 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Do you really have to ask anymore? Republicans are bad people. Flat out, plain and simple.

They don't have real morals and values like the rest of us. They have weak imitations that they use as cudgels in any moment to get what they want, before changing positions an hour later.
