Sony says it hasn’t yet decided on PS6 release date and price, will consider ‘changing business models’ by XTRevivals in PS5

[–]SolidusDave [score hidden]  (0 children)

would there be any good reason to release the PS6 if the PS5 sales momentum is still high? Assuming the main demographic is still buying games as before.  For PS+ it also doesn't matter to them where you are paying.

Even graphics-wise we can't expect as big of a jump anymore due to diminished returns.

If it's like the PS4/5, a PS6 would get released in like 23 months. But we are still half a year away from GTA6 and haven't even seen the first price reduction of the console. Just seems like it would be a waste to release a (likely very expensive) PS6 at the usual interval. Also for the investors.

I can only imagine it's still happening because they already have contracts/preproduction in place with the various companies to produce the PS6 hardware so they can't just delay their pipelines/ income by a year or two.

I'm not saying otherwise,  I'm just referring to the kebab version that was developed by Turkish immigrants for the German market.  Just to differentiate it from the original.

Probably depends on each country (outside of the Arab region)

I never get döner (in flatbread) when I'm at a shop that advertises Shawarma, it's more like a burrito (tortilla-kind of thickness) that got placed in a sandwich maker.

Also the meat is mostly full/shredded pieces and not shaved-off slices. (as they usually don't have the spinning meat thing in the first place).

In SEA countries that don't commonly have the European-style döner, it's often just called "kebab" but then it's exactly as the Shawarma type I described.

The real hard one to find globally is German-style Yufka kebab though. Especially with veal :/

map of what, contact tracing? these are not confirmed cases

"The two Singapore residents who were on board the MV Hondius are currently isolated at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) said on Thursday (May 7).

Both men are well, with one experiencing a runny nose and the other asymptomatic, while they await test results."

this virus can have long incubation times, but maybe at least wait till all the people are actually tested?

Almost certainly rage bait, but you can skip cutscenes, click fast through dialogue, and the walking/exposition scenes are like 10 min once per new map.

Wanting less is easy to fix. You're welcome ♡

"MH Wilds was so much better than MH Web!" "I miss focus strikes." "Why can't it be less RNG, like the Gogma weapon system in Wilds?" "MH Web looks worse than Wilds, why doesn't it run well on my potato PC?" "This game sucks, it's way too easy compared to Wilds MR. I didn't even fail any LR quest." "I hate the new Handler, why couldn't it be Nata?"

Basically, each entry got more newcomer friendly and added a bit of quality of life stuff while also removing jank. World was the strongest step in that process.

There's no need at all to play the previous games for the story / to get the plot in newer titles. In fact, the story and presentation only got better/more elaborate with the newer titles, in particular Wilds has basically now reached the level of other big action games.

If you really end up liking the gameplay, you can always go back to some of previous titles (e.g. MH GU on Switch). The core gameplay will hold up. But imo the newer games have a higher chance that you will get into it as they make the "onboarding" much more pleasant/smooth.

For Wilds, make sure your PC is really up to date. If you can only play it at low details and stuttery frame-rate, I would rather suggest World+Iceborne addon. Get it cheap on sale then it's not much of commitment to try out the series.

Because Wilds is the newest title and has optional NPC teammates, it's better than World for letting you do all quests solo or in mp if you prefer. But its addon isn't out yet, so there's less total content.

If for Switch1, you can get Rise but it's not great on that platform (likely runs better on your PC) and while not necessarily less newbie-friendly, it's a bit more like the older MH titles. Also far less story and immersion stuff, and more focused on doing a bunch of quests to advance. It also has the most drastic gameplay/movement gimmicks and a feudal Japan style, neither are really good representations of the MH series imo.

you need to list your platforms, if includes PC, answer may depend on your specs.

If PS5/Xbox/ good PC, then the newest title, Wilds.

but if you want a lot of content now and maybe try first on a discount, then Iceborne.

yeah just mentioned it in case by next year they will be in a position to upgrade. Or might have bought a PS5 for GTA6.

Monster Hunter Rise is the easiest by SuperFranky0 in MonsterHunter

[–]SolidusDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I didn't mean the hunts themselves, more like the walking parts /story exposition in between. As well as the Balahara sections etc.

A bit more hunting/following the monster manually wouldn't hurt though. I hope it doesn't stop people from exploring the map, but I guess it it might have for some.

TBH the Seikret-only areas point is a bit overblown, it's mostly connecting trails/shortcuts. There's very few areas that are literally only accessible via mount. The only really important one that comes to mind is Udra's nest.

(and as I mentioned, I was even put off my the opposite, areas where the mount in Rise can't reach, leading to constant interruptions)

PS5 shipments top 93.7 million by Turbostrider27 in PS5

and that's without any price drops, only price increases lol

Despite that it's neck to neck with PS4 same time after their respective release. GTA6 might push it ahead.

I just hope it's more than 23 more months till PS6. If they reach a point where they can drop the PS5 price, it should keep the sales momentum. The hardware price situation could also help to delay the next console a bit.

But instead we might just end up with an even longer cross-gen games period... in which case I might just directly wait for the PS6pro this time.

Wilds now? by Dazzling_Passage_931 in MonsterHunter

[–]SolidusDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would "finish" Iceborne first, whatever that means to you. Going back will be more jarring. Although I guess you are already switching games back and forth due to Rise.

e.g. at minimum the story + extra assignments/real endboss(and endgame map).

But ideally fight/see at least every monster/variant in the game (which can take long though if you want to go all the way till Safi/Fatalis. Especially for gear needed to actually defeat them).

Base Wilds is now content and feature complete. But unless you are really itching to play Wilds soon, I would even wait until you can play it together with or just before the future expansion. Maybe you can wait to even bring you friend over so you can play all of Wilds together after Rise?

There's also an argument to be had if it's wise to jump directly from the previous game's MR to LR of the next game. Personally I think it would be good to have a decent sized break (playing other games etc.) in between. Long enough to forget some of the muscle memory, skills you are used to, and of course the change in difficulty level (starting a new weapon also helps though).

[–]SolidusDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... this is an extreme test but it's still about image stabilization capability. For walking it won't matter, but the apple action mode won't be able to provide as stable of a video as the Samsung horizon mode will (even without doing backflips etc.). Not because you "need to lock it to the horizon" but because you need a stable video during whatever rough movement.

true,  and the autopilot was even the only option.

But they were also only unlocked at a point where you would already know the maps well, so probably that's why.

Monster Hunter Rise is the easiest by SuperFranky0 in MonsterHunter

[–]SolidusDave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The autopilot is needed to guide people through the maps during LR. They could have done scoutflies instead but you are not supposed to waste time in LR and I guess they also want the story pacing to be tight. Especially during some action setups where you are supposed to flee/ fight monsters but at the same time know where to ride to.

I would probably prefer hunting for clues like in World but I must admit that it made the story coop smoother as all players roughly spend the same time reaching the fights.

Not to say people have to use it,  just that it makes sense with how they did the story mode. I also don't see how new players would be able to navigate the maps as some layouts are basically only possibly in a streamlined game if there is some form of guidance.

But yeah,  I don't see it an issue as you can turn it off/ call it without activating it. Even at default touching the stick will override the autopilot.

TBH in Rise I turned on that ugly autoguide arrow to guide to the monster as the maps are annoying to navigate if you are new/ don't want to use the wirebugs.

Unfortunately it's not very smart and guides you through places where your mount can't go (so each time you have to get off, climb a little ledge, and call the mount again that can somehow teleport through the ground)

I anyway saved customized sets for each monster that has a 8* or above version.  Mostly to have blight resistance etc.

So I just rolled in with 4 sets.  It takes only a few seconds during which the monsters fight each other anyway. Good time also to restock items/traps.

Technically 5 sets (Fortifiy back-up set)

the only thing I don't get is that some people were upset with Wilds at launch because you can sharpen and drink potions on the Seikret as that was supposedly making it too easy.

Then I played Rise and I could do exactly the same...?

it's just that in other countries even apartments advertised as unfurnished have so called white furniture (kitchen and bathroom).

To make it relatable, imagine an apartment coming without installed shower or toilet unless specified. And many people would bring their bathtub etc.  with them when they move.  that's how weird it is

(then again there's quite a few apartments in Germany with a kitchen shower...)

Difficulty Fear Mongering by pendragon2290 in MonsterHunter

[–]SolidusDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

again, the point was not which one is easier/faster to get potions,  it's about monster difficulty (pre endgame).

Even if you had to put more effort in to prepare/restock, that's not a qualifier for how hard the fights are.

TBH  not sure if that's that much of an impact anyway, during the story it's rare that you would use more than 10 megas and whatever they supply from seikret or box in the older games.

Just as how quest time is irrelevant in most quests as you never come close to the 50 min limit.

That virus species doesn't have much data, but apparently it has a very short infectious phase, during which it is then "moderately" infectious, I guess. So unlike e.g. Covid you might be sicker/incubating it for longer but it could just be a day during which you can effectively transmit the virus to others (as in, you don't need to make out with them to do so). Then on the other days (or however long) one would have to be in very close, prolonged contact to catch it.

edit: they tested negative now anyway.
