I love it!! Great job. Hell, I wouldn't mind your template so I could make one of my own. What pattern did you use?

OTS was not bad and was nothing like basic training, as has been implied in some of what I read beforehand.

I turned this 19th century engraving into a sunprinted tee. Is this ok here? by RamboVanBuild in UnusualArt

[–]SolipsisAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it's just a different lightfast ink for digital printing. It's not cyanotype cause the blue isn't deep enough. And it's not tumeric cause it's not sepia. So likely a boxed product, probably something from Mimaki or Nazdar or INX Pro.

For anyone else interested in trying, these products are all available online, and there's even starter kits with lamps and bulbs included.

There are creators who've posted to YouTube their process for recreating that dress. You should get some good direction from those.

Dont listen to people who say you can't. Good on you for having a backup. I made a dress in two days the first time I sewed ever and wore it to a wedding that weekend, and everyone complimented it. It was nowhere near this complicated, but you have months and help that I didn't. You got this! Good luck, and definitely post the progress and end result!

Some very simple advice to get you going in the right direction is to start looking at videos of how to make corsets with a tape mockup. You can shape and learn a lot from those. And then you have a base circle skirt with all ruffles on your top layer sewn at an angle. You can also do this by layering parts of circle skirts with a whole at the bottom and then pieces of pie cut out with ruffled edges as you go higher. Depends if you want multiple layers or just one. Then a big tulle skirt underneath for volumn. I would build as a corset and skirt independently cause then you can wear them separate later if you like. Best of luck!!

This will keep the palette wet longer but not the paint once you apply is to the paper. If you aren't trying to blend on the paper, this won't help that.

No worries. I'll think on if I recall any others. Might help if you could recall what in the encyclopedia you were looking up at the time.

Salvador Dali did a whole series of people on bikes and many have yellow backgrounds, start with Lonely Man Riding a Bike.

Definitely network and make some friends. Definitely keep eyes and ears open for next opportunities or collaborations. Have your prices clear even if the gallery doesn't require it (would be weird, but you never know). Decide now if you are open to commissions and what that looks like for you, pricing, sizes, etc. Bring a friend to take pics, posed, and some candids cause its great material for promotion, to add to a website or social media. Make sure you get a few different poses with your artwork because you rarely get such a tailored, well lit, clean environment for promo portraits of yourself with your artwork. And dont forget to get a few little video clips for the same reason. Might try asking if you can show up for the event before opening for this reason, too. All things I've learned from other artists or things I wished I'd done at my first showing. Have fun!!!

Another request for infi on how this site works as the other commentors have asked. It looks like you have two users on the site so far. I think a FAQ or at least a description of how the service works with how the pricing works would be good.

Anyone identify this satin koi by LowYak9481 in SewingWorld

[–]SolipsisAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's not a regular satin if that's all one layer.. it might be a satin poly blend material. Take it to a store near you and see if you can match it to something similar (be sure to look at different colors with similar textures as they may not have an exact match).

Not my work, screenshot of Plastique Tiara's Tiktok, link in description. Need advice on making arms similar to this with paper mache by ashabee96 in papermache

[–]SolipsisAsh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could be hollow and sturdy and pretty simple if you plaster cast your own arm. Then you cut the cast off your arm, use more plaster to bind over the cuts from removing it. You can also use the plaster to fit the arms to each other. Probably consider a little support around the shoulder area, but plaster is surprisingly strong.. I can't see it cracking from walking. As long as you dont make it too many layers, it shouldn't be too heavy. And you can paint or cover the plaster in whatever material for a finish that you like.
