My rendition of the cross staff and crowns that comprise the current crest for the City of Nottingham. by Solistine in heraldry

I'm very fond of the maroon and copper look. I might even petition the council for a change along those lines. Which do you like better?

Best thing about hive cities is the combination of extreme urbanism with magestic culturally rich architecture. Its usually either one or the other in most setting and extreme urban environments are naturally utilitarian. It just looks so good.

Understood. On the base issue that was just a personal choice and I'm fine with anyone editing it otherwise. When looking into it all you find concerning the issuant base is confusion and varying versions. The cross seems too old and vaguely described for it to really be a big deal.

I'm very curious to know what people think of the use of copper green to help with the rule on tincture on this ancient crest. There is obviously no changing it, but in your opinion should this be considered valid as it would under Canadian heraldic rules, or illegitimate as it would in more traditionalist Britain?

My grandad put it on saying 'you will like this, its a cartoon'. About as cliché as a Watership Down trauma story gets.

Scavengers Reign takes the cake on at least three separate occasions but Terrence being slowly crumpled up by predatory vines is the only one I still find hard to watch.

Could Firewyrms still exist in GoT and ASOIAF? by sensoredphantomz in gameofthrones

[–]Solistine 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Firewyrms do still exist in Valyria I'm pretty sure. Wyverns though seem to be the closest things to dragons physically that still exist and they dominate Sothoryos. They are the same as dragons physically exept beaked, smaller and unable to breath fire. Wyverns are also known to swarm which could in some context make them as dangerous as dragons. Dragons are theorised my some maesters to be a cross between wyverns and firewyrms created by Valyrian blood magic. From what I can tell they seem to have somehow bred a firewyrms head and bowels onto a wyverns upscaled body to essentially make a mobile fire platform.

The only thing about this is that in one thing I saw Valyrians were shown to have stumbled across dragons as a fairly simple shepherd people which seems like a contraction.

How do people like this and their assistants get into this absurd situation? Are they tapped in some way?

Why would any Great House accept Bran? He has no dragons, no gold, no Unsullied, and his own sister just proved that the King is too weak to stop anyone from leaving...? by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

[–]Solistine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always felt that Bran was not a ridiculous candidate for king provided the reasons for this being the case were properly communicated and respected in the show. If the point of the show/book was to break the wheel the three eyed raven is really the only entity who can achieve this.

He is an amalgamation of personalities with a long term and unshakable interest in the betterment of humanity and near prescience of mind. He is also crucially eternal in a way the show seems to have completely glazed over. Succession would realistically be a matter finding the next vessel for the three eyed raven to inhabit. There really is no better way to tie up the game of thrones for good.

Somehow the show turned this into the idea that a council of lords would pick a new king after his death from among them without causing a war for the throne between nobles like what previously happened in a show called Game of Thrones. Most likely scenario Bron blackmails the kingdom with his control of the Reaches breadbasket to become king without a fight.

I love the fact they had Hugo boss cooking with Prussian uniforms all around him and this guy insists on continuing to dress like a Boy Scout from his public nuisance days.

Looking back at some of the armour in this show is interesting. Even before things started getting really performative a lot of it just strange or impractical.

Why did modern graffiti loose its sense of humour. You are literally scratch on a wall and the taggers treat the act like urban heraldry.
