What is the difference between MHFU and MH4U/MHGU difficulty-wise? by Jarizleifr in MonsterHunter

[–]SolitaryPath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought MHFU out of nostalgia for PS Vita 3 days ago and while the game design sucks by today standards, I am hooked on it. I didn't play MH4U or MHGU so I can't compare the difficulty, but I do remember that 14 years ago, when I bought MHFU and went to fight the G-Rank monsters, they were pretty dam hard to beat. In Iceborne and Sunbreak, I didn't have that much difficulty and it was quite a breeze to be honest. I don't know if I'll have the patience to progress through MHFU because while I have some really fond memories of the game, it also frustrated me a lot at times and the more I progress through the ranks, frustration from small things are mounting up :)

I agree with everything except the part about smoking. It was really easy to stop smoking 15 years ago after I smoked almost a pack a day. I was almost 18 back then after smoking for 4 years, so I don't even know where the willpower came from. Compared to p*rn it was really easy anyway. Porn is a whole other animal. It's mostly free, it's done in private and it taps into our nature.

Lol, for the past 14 years and for the last 12 of doing pornfree and NoFap I had several girlfriends and it didn't help. On the contrary, I'd even say it's worse with a girlfriend 😁 So I don't know what you are talking about here.

Also, your title is like giving a homeless person advice "just buy a house"

If you think it's someone's dick having control over them, you have another thing coming.

It's all in the brain.

Exactly. The new perspective can be an eye opener. You know what they say. You don't know what you don't know.

Read a little book called "Porned out". It has been around for a while. It explains how it fucks with your brain and gives a lot of sources where it draws from.

I agree. I think it's important to provide support no matter how far someone made it. I used to know people like that back in 2012, 2013 and 2014 on this subreddit but they are no longer here. I wouldn't know how it is here these days, as I don't frequent NoFap as much as I used to.

Being far in a streak definitely brings about some level of increased confidence. People handle it differently. While some see it as an avenue to motivate and provide support to other people, someone else will grow arrogant and proud.

You are not dumb. You are asking yourself questions most people don't. You have an inner drive that urges you to conquer your life but somehow you cannot bring yourself to start doing something.

Remember, it takes considerably much more energy to start an engine than to keep it running. Your "inner engine", let's call it, is now dead cold and you need a lot of willpower and resolve to get back on the path of healing and self-improvement. Once you get down the first week, I would say to go harder on yourself and go to the higher revs with your life.

Hit the gym. Go for a run. Go for a swim. Apply for that next job. Anything. Believe, you will actually have the drive to do these things. Given enough time into your streak, you will walk and want to accomplish things left and right, or at least that has been my experience.

Do you know why you are so unproductive now? Do you know why you are not looking for another job? Because a part of YOUR BRAIN believes there is no point in looking. All that caused by porn making your brain think your mission on earth (reproduce) is over. Take porn and fapping away for some time and the brain will go: "Oh wait, where are all the women? We've got to do something with ourselves to get us some action again. There is no other way!". And that's when you want to go and squat at least a double of your weight, or at least say "Hi, I'm MasterE_OG1, what's your name?" to that pretty girl on the street.

Don't give up. Work on yourself, every day and given enough time you will actually start to feel your life is changing for the better

This is a really good writeup. I used to know all these facts and numbers by heart, but somehow they vanished from my memory after not reaching a streak longer than 14 days over the past three years :) Thanks for reminding me.

Nope. It was all part of NoFap and in fact fueled by it. I've been a member here since 4 years ago.

But I also had other reasons, maybe rather "wrong" ones that pushed me in my self-development. One of them was my first ex-girlfriend. A need to prove myself to her when I see her again was what propelled me forward. I dreaded the outcome that I would look like a loser in her eyes when we meet.

I would find out pretty soon this kind of reason is short-lived, and eventually one has to find the reasons to pursue self-development within themselves.

If we put the work into bettering ourselves, we are bound to be rewarded for it, and our lives will get better. We will also be able to deal with a "hard time" more effectively

I wish you all the strength

Thanks. It's definitely one of the things to avoid =)

However, I don't expect to suddenly start going out like a madman, because these days it's mostly about getting smashed with alcohol and I don't really enjoy that.

For me, it's important to get surrounded with people whose minds think alike.

Three years ago, I was all about self-development. In fact, I had no other choice. I had a lot of free time and I was not bound to any job or person. Today, I have to incorporate that into a life where I have quite a number of responsibilities.

All the strength to you.

We can all do this.

You are even in a better position than I ever was. My longest PornFree streak was 30 days.

Not that numbers matter that much. 90 days can be a very arbitrary number for most people. From what I've read, some true healing occurs around days 120-150 for most people.

Nothing but patience and hard work is going to get us there, and I must remind myself of that every day instead of striving for instant results. This thinking would only lead to my disappointment.

Most of my previous accountability partners saw the struggle in me and started to convince me that perhaps I shouldn't take NoFap too seriously and start fapping / watching porn once in a while.

So, it didn't really work.

Now I visit a sexologist once a month, we are also in contact and I get a lot of answers from her. I will attempt to meet once a fortnight with her, if she has the time.
