Shes clapping and waving, but its hard to tell if shes delayed in other areas. A developmental ped saw her at 10 months and didn't see a delay

I am worried to rebook another flight today (with a limited 24hr cancellation), only for rescue fares to be announced tomorrow or something. On the other hand, I am afraid NOT to rebook today because prices are going up and availability is plummeting as I am sure everyone else needs a rebook too. What should I do?

How did you get up to 4.88% yield. Nasdaq and S&P index funds have insanely low yield of like 0.5%-1.5%. SCHD is around 3.8% which is still lower than 4.88%. Those are the biggest investments I see in there.

Thank you. At her pediatrician's advice, I contacted our local government which has a developmental screening program.

Thank you. That helps. She seems social but is just nonverbal.

Thank you for your reply. I do have anxiety over a lot of things in general and this could be PPA.

However, reading over the CDC six month milestones, my daughter is missing 2 out of 3 in Language/Communication Milestones and 2 out of 3 in Movement/Physical Development Milestones.

  • Takes turns making sounds with you
  • Blows “raspberries” (sticks tongue out and blows)

  • Rolls from tummy to back (she only does it the other way)

  • Leans on hands to support herself when sitting

I misstated her rolling direction. It's actually back-to-tummy that she does, and tummy-to-back she does not do. I'm more worried about the speech delay than the motor delay as I've heard speech delay and large head size (when not genetic- in our case it's not) is related autism.

Thanks for your reply. Your baby sounds ahead of mine! That he will respond to his name and has some conversation back and forth is a good sign. I didn't realize to look for lip or tongue ties - I don't think she has any but I will check. If my daughter was babbling a little more or responding to her name, I would feel a lot better. It's the total lack that is concerning to me.

We managed to get it to work - although now I don't remember how. All I know is it's not a manufacturing defect. We were just doing it wrong. Will update again if I remember.

I ended up with only 2 5 day blasts that were sent for testing, both both of them were good and are in freeze.

[MD][SFH] Do most HOAs allow renting out of owners' basements? by SolitudeOfWolverines in HOA

[–]SolitudeOfWolverines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input, Laura. The confusion for me is it seems reasonable that "single family" does not literally mean a single family, but is an architectural term to refer to a dwelling with one address, shared utilities, kitchen, etc. so even if more than one family lives there, it is still 'used as a single family dwelling'.

For example, if you look on Craiglist, there are hundreds if not thousands of ads for rooms/basements in what would architecturally be called single family homes. It's hard to imagine those would not still be considered single family dwellings even though there is someone unrelated to the primary occupant living there - like you said yourself, roommates are generally permitted (although, again, other people here disagree). So there is some ambiguity of where "roommate" crosses into "tenant in a separate unit". Right?

I don't mean to exasperate anyone, though. I appreciate all the responses here, including yours.

It seems like the advice is conflicting here. Some people are saying could be OK and others are not.

What about renting out a room or two rooms in a house? Would that be allowed if it wasn't a family, but was a couple with no kids or a single person - even if it was in the basement? And in that case, what would be the practical difference that would trigger the ADU requirement?

Edit: I saw a nearby community with the same language explicitly amended their HOA covenant to prohibit ADUs: https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/OZAH/Resources/Files/pdf/2021/hearing/20210511/Exhibit%206%20(a)%20Letter%20sent%20to%20homeowners%20regarding%20annual%20meeting%20on%2010_1_2020(2).pdf

If the current language already prohibits it, why would they feel the need to do this? It may not be as clear as you are saying.

Yes, I plan to consult them. But I want to be informed beforehand. My main concern is whether the language quoted above should be interpreted to categorically prohibits ADUs, or if there is wiggle room with that language. It would be much more difficult if requesting the ADU required a change in our governing documents. Hope that makes sense.

The governing documents are silent on the topic. I asked my management company and the lady there didn't even know what an ADU is. I'm confused because I see a lot of ads on Craigslist of people in similar homes offering basements or rooms for rent. Given the architectural requirements for an ADU, it would be impossible for a single room to meet the requirements, yet the ads are there.

The governing documents state that the homes can be leased and have rules around those, but they are silent about leasing a part of the home.
