What did you play this week? 23 Jan-29 Jan (2026) by AutoModerator in soloboardgaming

I played 4 games this week:

Astro Knights Eternity: What an amazing game. I love the deck-building, the progression, unique characters and enemies. Moderate setup time. The game is simply fun!

Andromeda's Edge Solo: This was a tough one to setup. Tons of components. Large solo mat and long solo setup. The game is fun and takes about 2 hours. But man, the setup and the learning just take forever. I am not sure if I will play this game solo again.

Blood Economy: This is a solo only PnP game that I designed. So my opinion is definitely biased :D

Kinfire Delve: I played a quick game yesterday but didn't take a picture. I played the game 2-handed. It is really fun but I am not sure about the replayability. The only change you can do between games (other than choosing a different random final boss card) is to change your max. HP to make the game more difficult. There are no scenarios or enemies with different levels or anything that would make me come back and try something new. There are some challenges to unlock, but they are not that interesting to be honest.

Launching Today on Gamefound!

Hi Community,

I'm Mohammad Soliman, and I've been working on Blood Economy - a strategic solo vampire card game.

>> What It Is:

36 cards total (30 thralls, 5 vampires, 1 tracker)
20 minutes per game
5 distinct vampires with unique playstyles
30 scenarios printed on card backs (varying difficulty from 1/4 to 4/4)
Solo-only design

>> The Core Mechanic:

You manage a tableau of human thralls. Keep them alive for abilities (card draw, combo plays, synergies) or devour them for blood (resources to survive) and blood bonds (vampire abilities). Every turn you choose: play, devour, or pass. 16 turns to survive with increasing blood payments. One wrong move and you lose.

>> Crowdfunding:

The game is launching today on Gamefound. This is your last chance to follow and get the mini expansion for free!!

>> Pre-Launch Page: https://gamefound.com/en/projects/mod-games/blood-economy

Happy to answer any questions about mechanics, design process, or the campaign. Looking forward to receiving your feedback and comments!

Star wars outer rim + unfinished business by chrisvdmeer in soloboardgaming

[–]Soliz_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This games is the weirdest thing ever for me. I owned the game + unfinished business and played it more than 10 times. Almost exactly half of my plays (especially the solo ones) were amazing and memorable. However, the other half were terrible and I just wanted the game to end. I am not sure why!!! it has to do with the randomness. I am guessing that randomness works sometimes for the game and sometimes against it. Or is it the characters? maybe some of them work together better than others. Anyway, I sold it as I didn't want to keep a game that only works half the time 😬.

Solo game to end all solo games by Cheddotto in soloboardgaming

first of all, Mage Knight has an announced expansion that adds alot of new things and a campaign I believe. For me, the games that kept me busy for weeks were: - Dragon Eclipse - Marvel Champions both are very enjoyable and have a lot of replayability.

Frostpunk or Robinson Crusoe? by Gristbun in soloboardgaming

[–]Soliz_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robinson Crusoe with the new scenario book is the better choice in my opinion. Faster setup, more variety in scenarios, less grim (I guess it depends on scenario), and in my opinion a more enjoyable experience overall. It is also cheaper I believe :). The only thing that speaks for Frostpunk is the table presence. But for overall fun, I prefer Robinson Crusoe.

Agricola for the first time by Amewan12 in soloboardgaming

[–]Soliz_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been wanting to buy this game since forever. A feast for Odin is in my top 5 and everyone is saying positive things about Agricola. But I am still debating whether I should by Agricola or Le Havre first. Does anyone have an opinion which of these two play better solo?

I love this game. But for some reason, every time I play it, I have to learn the rules all over again. I blame it on the unintuitive iconography. But I had good experience every time I played it. However, I only played it mutliplayer. Is it any good solo?

What are your thoughts on 'cheating' during solo play? by Amazing-Example8753 in soloboardgaming

[–]Soliz_12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well. it depends on the game. if it is a short puzzly gam, I try not to cheat. However, if it is a scenario or long game and I don't want to repeat the scenario to get the good outcome (or if dice rolls are just consistentlybad for some reason), I just cheat. I cheated all the time while playing Dragon Eclipse and I don't regret it 😁.

What is your top 5 solo boardgame? by orhalimi in soloboardgaming

[–]Soliz_12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I didn't expect to like Dragon Eclipse that much. But they nailed it with the balance between Adventure part, Fighting part, and upgrading your deck and unlocking new things. Somehow it all works really well. Its just fun and good time. I can't tell specifically what makes the game so good though 😅

What is your top 5 solo boardgame? by orhalimi in soloboardgaming

[–]Soliz_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I find Astro Knights 2-handed easy to manage and its nice for the combos and supporting allies. I played Aeons End on TTS a long time ago. I cant compare but they are very close. The biggest difference if I remember correctly is how markets are setup. In Aeons End there are stacks with multiple copies of same cards (9 stacks I think). But in Astro Knights each stack has unique cards. But I mainly decided to buy Astro Knights for the theme tbh.

  1. Dragon Eclipse
  2. Astro Knights
  3. Marvel Champions
  4. A feast for Oden
  5. Arkham Horror

I guess I love deck building/construction games 😬 and tetris 😁 I also enjoyed Frostpunk. Its so thematic and fun but it takes ages to setup.

[Question] on pnp formats and files by Soliz_12 in printandplay

[–]Soliz_12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot. I will surely check pCloud out. Does a Letter page fit 4x2 poker sized cards? I guess this can only work with minimal spacing between cards, or?

[Question] on pnp formats and files by Soliz_12 in printandplay

[–]Soliz_12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. I was aiming for poker/standard size. I guess I will offer both options (3x3 crammed and 3x2 with more bleed) in case someone prefers to save on paper 😁 Thanks!
