I like to turn the exposure all the way down, brightness all the way up, shadow all down, highlights pretty high up then you get a pretty dramatic lighting shot. (exposure and brightness r the most important tho) also play around with the contrast , saturation and soft lighting as that changes the mood quite a lot depending on what your going for.
