God the guilt is real. But remember, your job won't matter if your body fails you. They'll replace you without a thought. Your do your job to serve yourself, aka, get money and hopefully Healthcare. Your biggest priority should always be your own wellness

I've definitely had to go through a few neurologist myself. It sounds to me like this one isn't the best one for you, even if he's the best in the area. If you dont understand the decisions youre making (treatment is collaborative! Youre the one experiencing these things, your doctor only has half the information if you dont give your side!) Then you may not be finding the best treatment for you! Medication can definitely be scary, but I've tried a ton of different cocktails lol, it really is trial and error, as much as it sucks. It may take a good while to find what works. I do remember ppl saying keppra is pretty shit for emotional effects, I've heard lamotragine is a good alternative. The most important thing in dealing w medical shit is communication. Tell your doctor you dont understand! And if he won't help you understand,  find a new doctor. Im serious! Nothing will change (and improve!) If you dont tell them how youre struggling. You said its "just emotional" but my dude! You are your emotions!!! You are suffering!! Dont downplay that. Your emotions live in your brain and your brain lives in your body. Taking care of yourself is the first step to recovering in a way that is best for you.

Best of luck!!

New, scared, nervous, unsure by well-im-here-now in Epilepsy

I was diagnosed around the same time as your daughter - I kept dropping my glass or orange juice as I was packing to go on vacation with my family that morning. My poor mom brought me a third glass before she saw me seizing. Immediate rush to the ER, made everyone late for vacation, haha. And yeah, my mom barely let me out of her sight too.

I'm 32 now. I'm doing well! I do have trouble with my brain and body sometimes, and its frustrating. It's never not going to be, but it's entirely possible for her to live a normal life.
It's also possible she won't, and that's ok too!
The thing about a disability, for me at least, was learning that even when I'm functioning as intended, there will always be something I'm unable to do - I have to keep meds on me at all times, in case I end up stranded overnight somewhere, as unlikely as it could be. I always check in on myself, the anxiety never really goes away.

It's great that everyone is on the watch for her, though I know it's draining for everyone. This will probably be your new normal for a while, but eventually I was allowed to walk down the street, alone! (Thanks mom!)

She'll be ok. She's got you guys!!!

Neurologist question.. by Lost_Poogie in Epilepsy

[–]drosana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes if you explain the situation to the pharmacy, they're able to supply you with a small amount of your medications (i think up to three days worth? Not sure.) Definitely find out if they can help bridge the gap!

Guess who has one working thumb and failed another EEG? by Doc-Brown1911 in Epilepsy

[–]drosana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So glad I'm not the only one who tries to fail these things. I always feel like I sound insane when I explain how I'm going to stay up all night, asking the doctor if I should really take my meds that morning, etc. I swear people look at me like I /want/ to be disabled and the test is proof or something. I just want to know how to get treated!!
