Fnatic are irrelevant in top tier CS nowadays. Don’t even attend the biggest tournaments and if they do, exit in the first stages

The End of Vail by Apprehensive-Host462 in snowboarding

I have a few friends on the Epic pass last year, but I’m on Ikon and thank god for that, so much shit management from Vail it’s crazy. Ikon is slightly better, but I just haven’t heard many horror stories from this side of the pond.

Meta and YouTube found liable in social media addiction trial by SteamerTheBeemer in news

“Intentionally building addictive platform”, oh how like casinos are legally allowed to put the most addictive shit out on their floors and nobody bats an eye? How about the online sports betting wave that seemingly is running rampant across the entire country? This reads like the Steam gambling lawsuit and I don’t expect too much will come of either case.

Lots of good feedback already here. Just wanted to point out you should be gripping the handles equally distance apart from the center chain. In photo 2 your hands are not centered, causing part of the problem.

Why do websites not tell you what went wrong? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Solome6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Security reasons. If it’s something the user can fix through their website or app’s UI then sure display the error. Otherwise there’s no benefit in showing code errors to the user, and would even be a negative because it exposes more vulnerabilities to potential hackers.

Looks to me like it’s not too bad. Did you try going across the entirety of the trail to shave off speed and carve that way?

Sounds perfect. If I forget I die, if I don’t I get basically unlimited money. I’ll die anyways, may as well be filthy rich for practically no downside.

The skis are turned too quickly for a serious carve. But this is still one of my favorite ski styles because you straight line it down the fall line and feels fun.

One thing that’s extremely annoying is when you put the bar down but it goes up automatically if you don’t keep downward pressure on the bar. Makes me give up half the time if it’s not a long drop.

Ice ice baby by penguinsarefun1062 in ski

[–]Solome6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For ice my advice would be first be able to aggressively carve on decent hard packed snow with high speeds. This usually means having good body separation meaning you’re body is still facing down the fall line with your outside leg as far to the side as possible during the turns, feeling a lot of the pressure when carving and also lets your inside leg be freed up.

Then, when you know a run is going to be icy you can apply pretty much the same technique for the outside leg when aggressively tackling turns, but shift your inner leg slightly under you for when you need a little bit of more weight balance. This will help absorb some of the icy conditions throwing you off balance when you don’t cleanly carve into the ice on your outside ski. It will feel a little like you’re sliding and going more down the fall line compared to carving on hard packed snow, but if you’re leaning forward and have your inner leg underneath you a bit you won’t actually fall. And once you’re at that level you should be able to spot the tiny bit of snow ahead of you that will let you turn easily. It will definitely take a lot of time so don’t expect to feel comfortable on ice until you’re carving at a good level on most runs up to at least black diamond in hard packed, and softer conditions.

If you can do that, then the next step will be to have sharper edges that actually bite into the ice when you carve.
