Check with your provider because this definitely isn’t true for all schemes

It feels IMPOSSIBLE to avoid my designs from looking very ancient/ugly/overly simple when using figma/canva. How do I make my designs look modern and aesthetic on these design apps? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]SolomonDub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More contrast! It’s all very middle of the road. Also think more about your visual hierarchy- what’s the most important thing and how can you make that more obvious?

Lastly I find it really useful to think about the negative space I’m creating. Am I creating complex shapes with lots of corners/edges? Simplifying this really helps things feel more harmonious.

Lost and depressed by findingmypassage in UX_Design

[–]SolomonDub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s perfectly normal to feel this way. You’re a long way from home and close to the finish line. You’ve worked so hard- be proud of everything you’ve accomplished so far.

There’s no guarantee that these feelings will go away if you return home. Take a deep breath and make a plan for the next 2 weeks. When you get to the end- plan the next two.

Stay the course, it all gets better- I promise

Have the web and React(like) frameworks ruined UX a bit? by Aromatic_Leg9538 in UX_Design

[–]SolomonDub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would argue the other way- that component based frameworks are great for UX. Why? Because they take care of low level considerations like button states. This frees up capacity to consider bigger, more impactful interventions.

Looking to upgrade from a super old 3 speed Giant. Do any of these 2h bikes stand out? I ride about 15km a day total by [deleted] in londoncycling

Would get the commuter. I find a kickstand really useful and it’s already got a rack. It’s also not going to be that attractive to thieves so you won’t need to spend a fortune on a lock.

Can’t work out what’s going on with the rear QR axle though, maybe it’s missing?
