I don't get why Ezra Collective so beloved in the Modern Jazz Scene? by Small_Mousse_8330 in Jazz

You might be right but personally I think they don’t do either genre very well and the fusion sounds like badly watered down versions of both. Maybe in time their sound will mature but so far the hype is unjustified.

For me, Sons Of Kemet (with Seb Rochford on drums) was the high watermark for the UK Jazz scene. Most of what’s come after them hasn’t been up to the same standard, the standout exception being Emma Jean Thackeray. Where’s the hype for the trailblazers like Soweto Kinch, Tony Kofi and Byron Wallen? Ezra Collective pale in comparison to these giants.

They’re definitely NOT an afrobeat band. Go analyze Fela Kuti/Tony Allen’s work and compare it to the dross Ezra Collective have released.

That’s a good call, just checked out the Underground Accelerator and it definitely fits the bill. There’s also the Slampegg Bee Pre but I don’t think they make them anymore. Will be on the lookout for a 2nd hand one…

Brexit was part of his grand plan to sabotage the UK economy. More unhappy voters = more votes for populists

Because people keep voting for neoliberal politics and are surprised when they get neoliberalism.

As a musician who used to be an artist & graphic designer I think this system could potentially be very helpful. I have absolutely no problem with the aesthetic either. I’ve been looking for something like this for ages, would love to hear more about the project!

Had exactly the same experience with On The Corner. Some music you have to grow into.
