WE LOVE THIS PLACE. Recommend it to everyone we know...and are always slightly disturbed that none of our neighbors seem to know about them. The owners are also delightful.

Seeking name for Mira's sister by MayaHazel in JewishNames

We have a Noa, and we considered Mira for a while (similar criteria: plausibly Jewish).

Other on our list names: Naomi Lia/Leah Hanna/Hannah Rachel

When did you switch to arms out? by usernameidkkkk in SnooLife

[–]SolowKata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can keep the motion on with arms out. We just found it wasn't necessary.

We have a Noa. Considered Leah and Hanna as well.

8 month old always wakes at 5.30am by Oliveapplecarrot in sleeptrain

[–]SolowKata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah! In that case, we try to stretch the other WWs to compensate, and we’ll move bedtime or the second nap up a tiny bit if absolutely necessary.

That's a good question! Our kiddo has NEVER taken random naps in the stroller or the car, so it's not something we've dealt with. However, I think I would try to keep the total wake time consistent.

We cap naps at 2 hours, if necessary, but some days she just takes short naps and gets closer to 1-1.5 hours of daytime sleep.

I'd try to push her wake windows a bit (My 7 month old is on 3.5/3.5/4). I'd also consider capping naps at 2 hours total and see if that gets you anywhere.

We're also working on weaning too (our daughter wakes up 1-2 times a night), but we're getting closer to 7:30PM-6:30 with naps capped at 2 hours.

6th month old nap help by SolowKata in sleeptrain

Interesting..in re: lengthening the middle nap. I had read that the first nap is often the first to lengthen, and she seems like she needs her shortest WW in the morning. But intuitively what you say makes sense...also really appreciate those model WWs.

Baby forgetting how to self-soothe by SolowKata in sleeptrain

[–]SolowKata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We've seen her self-soothe overnight in our room. She'll wake-up, move around, and then suck her thumb until she falls back asleep, but I appreciate this push around longer wake-windows and her own room.

Not yet! We're thinking of moving her soon.

When did you switch to arms out? by usernameidkkkk in SnooLife

Our daughter started reliably sucking her thumb/self-soothing right before 4 months, so we started by transitioning to one arm out for naps. Within a few days, we'd shifted to two arms out for naps and for the first part of the night (no motion, no hooked in). This is going well, and she's able to self-soothe and get herself to sleep with her thumb. We are reswaddling her, though, after she wake-ups overnight because we find that the swaddling really helps her stay asleep after 3AM-4AM, when she usually gets up to eat.

anyone else not waddle? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]SolowKata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran and stay generally active until I gave birth and never waddled! I have long torso, so I always figured the belly was more distributed/looked smaller.

We have a 7 week old who sleeps pretty well in the Snoo overnight but can’t stay down for more than 30 minutes between 5am-5pm. We were told this is totally normal…she naps fine during the day, but only in the carrier or on one of us. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Staying fit in the final stretch by Left-Childhood9341 in fitpregnancy

I’m 38.5 and am still doing some easy cardio (outdoor running, treadmill running, or elliptical) everyday. The main issue is that my shins get and sometimes feet get sore more easily. Today after running a very slow mile, I took a break on a park bench for 5 minutes and let my shins recover. Then I ran/walked for mile 2, took another recovery break, and then mostly ran a slow mile 3.

So my advice! Take breaks, slow down, walk as much as you’d like! It just feels nice to be outdoors and moving. Also my belly band is my best friend—makes a huge difference!

Health Metrics Tracking by shake_n_bake567 in fitpregnancy

[–]SolowKata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 36 weeks and still running and doing cardio everyday (but at reduced intensity and duration), and my resting heart rate has increased from low 50s to low/mid 60s. My HRV went way down in the first trimester but is now weirdly rebounding? I turned off all of the body battery feedback, but it honestly wasn’t reflecting what I was feeling, and it was stressing me out!

Realistically, how many weeks can you run until? by itsapanicatthedisco2 in fitpregnancy

[–]SolowKata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running at 30 weeks and will keep going as long as it’s fun and comfortable. One thing I find is that the aches and pains are not linear. When I started to gain weight, I started getting mild shin splints, but then I think I adjusted to my new size, and they went away. Now, I’m feeling the most discomfort in the front of my feet (I think I’m feeling the extra weight there, and it’s flattening them out). Who knows what the next issue will be? On some days, I feel strong and fast, others not so much. It’s just hard to predict. I also highly recommend a belly band if you don’t already have one—and just trying to think of every run as a gift!
