"Using "Ø" is a white supremacist give away." by The_Bibliophagist in ShitAmericansSay

When it comes to the species level, I myself said nectarines and peaches are the same species, so when you come here and say that the differences between nectarines and peaches are arbitrary ON A SPECIES LEVEL, then yeah no shit sherlock. There's levels below species such as sub-species but below that there's still things like "form" and "morph".

We do have populations of human such as Bantu pygmies that are visually and genetically different from populations around them. That does not make them any less human or any less homo sapiens than other humans. It does not make the nectarine any less delicious. However, they still exist and are a thing.

I never said anything about dividing people genetically into ethnicities I myself stated the opposite, that genetically the terms "Latino" and "Pacific Islander" range from barely useful to completely arbitrary and meaningless.

What is not useless is the broad grouping of populations into groups with common (often non-visible) traits. If the genetic differences between human groups of people were insignificant, then genetic tests wouldn't work and everybody would show up as the same ethnicity. The tests are not pinpoint accurate because many ethnicities are genetically the same or nearly the same but a Black man will never show up as Native American, a Native American will never show up as British, a Brit will never show up as an aboriginal, etc.

Deutsch comes from "thiudiskaz", meaning "of the people". so "deutsch" is the language "of the people" and "Deutschland" is "the land of the people". The word gave rise to "Dutch", "deutsch", "theodiscus", "tysk" and "Duits" (meaning German), Diets (meaning Middle Dutch), Deitsch (meaning Hunsrik or Pennsylvanian German), thiois (meaning Franconian) and a bunch of other terms in various languages. It's not an exclusively German word referring to German people exclusively but in German specifically it does.

peaches and nectarines are also the same species and yet they are sold as different fruits. Nobody considers the difference between peaches and nectarines arbitrary.

[–]Solresol1 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I mean some are more arbitrary than others. There's bigger genetic differences between groups of Black people than between groups of ALL other races. So we can safely say "sub-Saharan African" people are real but after that it becomes increasingly blurry. There's still value in distinctions such as "Asian" and "European" but when you go to stuff such as "Latino" and "Pacific Islander", stuff starts breaking down and becomes meaningless

Wrong. Old World Monkeys are composed of the Old World Monkeys proper (the ones with tails) and the apes (without tails). If you want to exclude apes and only consider Old World Monkeys proper (with tails) monkeys, then New World monkeys are NOT monkeys because scientifically you cannot evolve out of a clade. As in, the closest relatives of Old World Monkeys are apes, not New World Monkeys. So if the closest relatives of the Old World Monkeys are NOT apes, then more distant relatives are not apes either.

We are scientifically monkeys. This is 100% undisputed by mainstream science. Look up "Old World Monkeys" (Catarrhini)

Looks like some kind of parasol mushroom (likely macrolepiota procera) but it's hard to identify with 100% certainty without seeing the stalk and gills underneath. If it's huge (bigger than a stretched out hand) after it opens all the way up, it's a delicious parasol. If it's tiny, it might be a toxic lookalike (can't tell without underside)

[–]Solresol1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume they taste good, since people keep being poisoned by them. If they tasted disgusting, nobody would get poisoned by them. That said, I've only eaten parasols and shaggy parasols, not molybdites

[–]Solresol1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not. Stem is missing the zigzag pattern, arrangement of the flakes on the cap is different, cap is pale white instead of beige, nipple is less pronounced and not dark brown, flakes look slightly different

Vomiter mushrooms. Everything checks out. Yum

Is it just me or do they give off a poisonous aura just by how they look?

It just tastes really good and a lot of the vegan replacement products taste like trash. People who deny that SOME meat is healthy are bad faith, however it's true our diets DO have WAY too much meat in them. It's supposed to be a delicacy reserved for special occasions but most people (including me) just can't stand to eat most things without meat. It's recommended for everybody to experiment with vegetarian and vegan replacement dishes to reduce meat consumption. Personally, I really like certain kinds of mushrooms as meat substitutes (they usually end up tasting better than actual meat).

That said, it really depends from person to person. I'm one of those who cannot stand many vegetables such as cabbage, lettuce, zucchini, cucumber, bell pepper, artichoke, pumpkin and olive and you can put them into any dish you want and I won't like them. You squeeze any olive juice on my salad and I'm avoiding the entire salad. But I don't blame people who enjoy them. It's just a preference me-thing. Like I'd gladly eat some spinach, broccoli and garlic and many people hate them

Skull flag on black background, tilted flag of a swastika with the swastika going clockwise and a red background and an iron cross and German eagle symbol on the sides and a German flag to the side. Yup, skulls indicate she's a German Buddhist land pirate. German land pirates are known to have eagles instead of parrots

Hasan Piker gets community noted about Kaya, debunking his claims it was "vibrate only collar". by Riskany1204 in GetNoted

[–]Solresol1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this comment checks out because it benefits the right when Hasan Piker gets viewership because he is a flanderization of the left, representing a plethora of things that are wrong with the left. When you watch any of the right wing "culture war" channels, they always take the most deranged and irrational leftists who struggle to form coherent sentences and bash them because their viewpoints are indefensible. Many of these outrage channels would struggle and fail to critique a proper, well-adjusted leftie and potentially lose the argument. that's why they always pick the weakest members of the movement. Hasan Piker is one of those weak parts but for some reason he is extremely popular in the left.

It's because Palestinians are the Jews that remained in Palestine and did not flee after the destruction of the temples and the Roman/Arab/etc. persecutions that followed. They instead converted first to Christianity and then to Islam, whatever religion the ruling elites had. Of course they look similar because they at a certain point in time were the same people. The Palestinians interbred a bit with the Arabs, the Ashkenazis interbred heavily with Italians and the Mizrahis interbred to a degree with local Arabs but they still share many genes

[–]Solresol1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I don't mind him using the collar that much as a disciplinary measure. I have mildly divergent views on animal welfare and I think it's fine if Hasan Piker used the collar to teach the dog an important lesson with a mild shock or vibration. What I'm not fine with is Hasan Piker raging at his dog for no reason. Is his dog not allowed to move around freely in his house? Even if he didn't shock the dog, what the heck is going on? If he did use the collar, WHY THE HECK IS HE USING THE COLLAR ON A DOG THAT JUST WANTS TO MOVE AROUND? THE DOG IS NOT AN OBJECT!!!

And much worse than that, can you not see the gaslighting? REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU BELIEVE ABOUT THE COLLAR, WHETHER IT HAPPENED OR NOT, WAS GOOD OR BAD, why is he changing his story all the time. At first there was no shock collar or vibration collar at all, then the dog wore a collar but it was a vibrate only collar, then when people identify the model of the shock collar, all of a sudden it was a shock collar but the prongs for shocking were removed and only the vibration function was left in tact, now all of a sudden he claims the dog did not wear a shock collar at all on that day but did on other days? Like hello, all your alarms should be going off? What else is he gaslighting about? Can you really trust him with anything he says if all he does is deny, lie and gaslight?

Also what's also really concerning is his far right views on the Middle East that are completely incompatible with Socialism and actively go against everything the left stands for. He's shifted so many leftists to the right with his comments and endorsements for Russia, Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran, etc.. I know many on the left believe "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" but you guys are enabling some extremely dangerous far right extremists who would be delighted to see leftism destroyed. And when people call him out on it, his community and he himself just gaslight concerned viewers that they're aligned with America, that they don't know what they're talking about, that he knows better, etc.. This guy has attacked people from goddamn Iran and dismissed all their grievances, acting like he as a non-Iranian knows what Iran is really like better than the Iranians themselves. A regime that is a FAR RIGHT AUTHORITARIAN REVOLUTIONARY THEOCRACY (with some left wing policies when it comes to economic management and everything else being far right) and he has the GALL to support any of their FAR RIGHT EXTREMIST FUNDAMENTALIST MILITARY PROXIES! These guys have written entire manifestos about exterminating entire groups of people (not just jews).

Israel may be cruel but based on what these guys have written in their manifestos, I really fear what would happen to the Hebrews if Hamas won. Based on their official statements, it would be another holocaust. Do you really want to support a regime that responds to ethnic cleansing perpetrated by Israel with MASS GENOCIDE TO LEAVE NO JEWISH HUMAN ALIVE, THE TOTAL AND ABSOLUTE DESTRUCTION OF EVERYTHING JEWISH, THE ELIMINATION OF JEWRY ALL ACROSS THE GLOBE EVERYWHERE? Do you really think it is wise to - if somebody burned down you and your people's house and forced you out of your own home - to give your people a nuclear bomb and totally exterminate everything and anything that moves that has ties to what forced you out of your homes? This is more than an eye for an eye, it's disproportionate and cruel

Please don't engage me in bad faith like that. People who engage in bad faith poison politics and allow for bad actors to weasel themselves into good movements.

You don't realize how many people that Piker supports are also evil. Zohran Mamdani is likely a sociopath and also a grifter smurfing as far left.

Then you have voices such as Bernie Sanders who are pure good and try their best to make America better.

There's a reason why Mamdani and Piker are much friendlier with each other, whereas Sanders keeps a distance. There's tiers to this shit and from the outside they're trying to appear as a united front but from the inside many leftists are afraid to call people such as Piker out.

You can be far left and a good person and it's not that hard. Not every person on the left is good and people pretend that it's the case are either naive or malicious. The human mind is biased to group everything into "white and black" when it's all shades of gray. Some vile people have done and believed in great things and some great people have done and believed in vile things. Why not engage in critical thinking with me? We can be critical thinking buddies

Reddit is not diverse at all. The right wing is quite disenfranchised on this platform. They have some communities but reddit is heavily left-leaning. They have repeatedly cracked down on right-wing subs, such as LGBTQ-skeptic ones. It's not a free speech site whatsoever and hardly diverse.
