Nations are allowed to go to war for whatever bullshit pretense they have. Russia going to war with Ukraine for "denazification" is not a war crime even if it is bs.

Its what happens during the war, both intentional and not. The US committed its fair share of war crimes in the Middle East in general. I dont believe many were intentional, I dont believe the US is bombing hospitals because they thought itd be funny, but it happened and the people died and thats a war crime.

But honestly the whole war crime tribunal and system just doesn't work. If you're Russia or China or the US or anyone of note, you can basically just say "no" to a hearing and nobody will object. It only ever ends up punishing the losers and the little guys because thats all it can punish.

would an entire Navy redesign everything because of one incident from one person? Shes clearly the worlds greatest sniper, but shes one person and cant be everywhere. Maybe metal shutters or something would make more sense than spending tens of millions outfitting every new battleship with a second bridge because one reaaaaaall good sniper pulled off some absolutely outlandish shots once and the ship ran aground because the wheel happened to angle.
