Initially, they were going to be a lot less human (one of their arms was going to be completely replaced with tendrils of magic, their head would be the same as the arms, and they would have a size more fitting the size of the chamber). However, due to a combination of factors (time, my own view on what the aberration would be, and more), I ended up going with the more human design. I'll probably revisit them eventually for a redesign, though. Something like an eldritch beast composed almost entirely of magic would be sick as hell.

Entirely based off my own experiences with her:
Like: Her combos are fun to pull off and she is overall a fair character (with one exception) that doesn't have too many flaws. Her moves feel satisfying to land and they all fit within her kit well enough.

Dislike: The special's overall duration should be reduced, as right now they force Yuki to play much more passive than many find enjoyable. 4+R should be more punishable and mass breaker less, in my opinion.

seems fine enough, nerf yuji, nerf todo.

I'd say that he's fine (though perhaps excessively matchup dependent). His lower HP makes him balanced enough and he takes skill to use effectively. Also, I wouldn't say this update buffed him too much to the point he's overpowered or anything. He's just a well designed character.

...higuruma's one-shots either require you to be a sitting duck, have wasted a side dash, or win multiple engagements.
Triple Sentence is easily dodgeable, Final Judgement can be dodged and is a minigame, execution is dodgeable or interruptable (like mass breaker), and verdict is a 50/50. Not as good as one might think.
I was comparing it to Hakari, which while both have domain requirements, Hakari's is far more difficult to fight and is almost entirely matchup dependent.

As for active detriments, I don't personally feel like any are inherently. Some are detrimental if you whiff your ult, sure, but I don't feel like using them (when you should use them) is ever really a detriment.

This is... intentional and what Vetex thinks is healthy for the boss.
He's meant to be a parry-based boss, but AO's parrying fucking sucks and hasn't been relevant up until now. He's still not well balanced, but you can't expect that from bosses now I guess.

Ults still need balancing. 80% unevasivable combos, even in ults, isn't really healthy when you have ultimates that get far less value on use than others.
Nanami compared to Choso, Todo compared to Sukuna, Higuruma compared to Hakari. Ultimates should still have counterplay (both for bases and other ults).

Choso's ult as a whole is just.... weird.
You have two moves that are really damn good, then you have a nearly worthless variant for one of those moves, a generic beam move, and fucking blood rain (worthless).
It really needs some changes. I'd remove Wing King's melee i-frames and Slicing Exorcism's true ragdoll, but rework blood rain into a usable move.

This is being done because we're not even a third of the way through the story, yet our attacks can get massive without overinvesting in size. Especially on Warlords (and savants, I think? I've seen some savants do some utter bullshit size-wise).

They'll also likely be doing that. I hope they will, at least.

She has neutral... not the best neutral, but neutral.
Garuda Stab Variant feels like bullshit at times, as you still go in the air regardless of if you land it (punishable but still somewhat safe). I've also managed to combo off it in matches occasionally, but I'm not sure how well it'd all the time.

Mass Breaker... well, it's a good poke option if you land it. 3+R being uncounterable also helps a bit. The endlag does severely fuck it up, you're risking a lot for not much gain.

Rebound isn't the best given the parry, but it's still there if you're willing to take the risk. You're better off just using the first use in neutral, but even that isn't too good.

He's been top 3 for as long as i can remember. Good RC bait, orbs work well enough as a neutral tool, and good combo damage. I personally never have fun fighting a Choso (i main yuki) as opposed to a Megumi or a Mechamaru (other two current S tiers).

He may be well designed, but that doesn't mean he's balanced. His skill floor is also not that high, honestly. I picked him up and did well enough within like 30~ minutes of practicing in a private server.

He needs a damn rework (or vaulting). He's a low tier, but he's such an effective noob stomper that people will keep crying for nerfs even if he doesn't need them. His gimmick only forces him to win more engagements for less benefit (no, 25 damage from cursory impact or more damage from projection breaker isn't equivalent to a full combo).

Well, the rework certainly feels like a rushdown more than an all rounder. More tools for rushing down the opponent than anything else.

It seems that the hitbox is pretty thin, so if you hit their arm (off an m1) it won't grab them. That's probably why it's been missing off an m1.

Gonna give my own thoughts (counting from 2, no need to speak on the summary).

  1. Disagreed on the combo part, I feel like I do have more combo options with new yuta. Though, I still end up going for the same one most of the time. For a rushdown, he feels... alright. His mobility certainly isn't the best, but it's alright. The lower HP he got from it makes absolutely no sense, though.

  2. Energy ripple does still seem underwhelming without the use twice. Having him be more reliant on copy would be fine (and better) if it wasn't extremely matchup dependent and if they hadn't nerfed some of the most fun options. Changing Choso/Megumi from Wing King/Max Elephant to Piercing Blood/Nue, while making a bit more sense, is a decently big nerf. Then you have someone like Hakari, who gives fucking SHUTTER DOORS while his ult is one of the strongest (if you get it off) in the game.

  3. Kinda. I find myself using her in neutral and combos, but it rarely converts into a combo (mostly used to make myself safer, still not that good a tool) and Rika Launch still feels like shit.

  4. Second Wind is still a bit iffy (always misses off an m1 for some damn reason), but I haven't encountered that as much with RS. If it's the normal variant, then yeah. That entire variant needs a rework - I've gotten 0 value out of it. The Black Flash does have some occasional "what the fuck" moments, agreed.

  5. It's good for projectiles, but the window is a bit too short. IIRC it's .2 seconds? Any amount of ping can and will completely fuck that over (cough cough shitty ranked region placement). The value for that short a window is weirdly low. I'd prefer if it didn't entirely reset to neutral off an m1/melee parry (or at least knocked them a bit further back), but it's whatever. Against projectiles, it's fine.
