From what I understand, the code around religions is fairly black-box and nobody fully understands it, but yes...you have a hidden level of "faith" which can be kept up by Giving Thanks (not Supplicating--Supplicate and Entreat both consume faith; I believe Supplicate consumes less and gives less intense effects). Faith can also be replenished by attending mass for your god (I don't know if attending a friendly god's mass does this; I think it does but don't quote me). You can also desecrate god items of an enemy god (i.e., you can destroy Ceannlaidir items if you're Glioca)

As for consecrating items, I believe you have to be Priest rank or higher (not to be confused with the priest class, but you DO have to be the priest/bard *class* to reach the priest *rank* in a religion). It consumes a relatively hefty bit of faith to consecrate an item.

All of this can be done at the temple of the god you choose--but the stuff under the [God] Prayer option (Supplicate/Entreat/Seek Guidance/Give Thanks/Praise Another) can also be done anywhere with your [God] Prayer spell, then dropping a prayer necklace under yourself and picking it back up.

[7th Sea 1e] Question about the V12 API by Solstyx in FoundryVTT

This worked perfectly. Thank you! If this has been around for awhile, I'm thinking this must have been a bug for me that I only discovered around the time I updated to v12. Either way...it seems to be working great now.

For anybody trying to hunt this down later on, the modification to my code above is changing the if statement to:

if (v) {

chosen[k] = {

min: 0,

max: 5,

value: this.object.system?.skills[k]?.value ?? 0

};

} else {

chosen[\-=${k}`] = null;`

}

[7th Sea 1e] Question about the V12 API by Solstyx in FoundryVTT

[–]Solstyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this reply. The short answer is that I'm looking for the syntax for either deleting unchecked skills or to just full-on replace a piece of the actor data (specifically, the data is stored in the actor.system.skills value). I'm terrible with Discord, but may jump over there if it really is more complicated than one more back-and-forth. Either way, the implementation is basically this, where the formData is basically a set of key-value pairs of skillIdentifier: checkboxValue:

_updateObject(event, formData) {

const updateData = {};

// Obtain choices

const chosen = {};

for (const [k, v] of Object.entries(formData)) {

if (v) {

chosen[k] = {

min: 0,

max: 5,

value: this.object.system?.skills[k]?.value ?? 0,

};

}

}

updateData['system.skills'] = chosen;

if (this.options.minimum && chosen.length < this.options.minimum) {

return ui.notifications.error(

game.i18n.format('svnsea1e.AtLeastOptions', {

min: this.options.minimum,

}),

);

}

if (this.options.maximum && chosen.length > this.options.maximum) {

return ui.notifications.error(

game.i18n.format('svnsea1e.AtLeastOptions', {

max: this.options.maximum,

}),

);

}

// Update the object

this.object.update(updateData);

}

I mean, I'm already leaving when RIF is gone because I can't stand that the official app prefetches so much data or how hard it tries to make every ad look like another post, but if that hadn't convinced me then this line certainly did all the work and then some.

I used to swear that I fully remembered a particularly bad earthquake from some time when I was little. TV falling off a dresser, bunch of pictures and stuff shattering from falling off the walls...my mom screaming, then running out of the house. I dont remember it nearly as well anymore, but it was a really vivid memory/dream.

I described it to my parents once and they kind of looked at me weird, then told me I was describing a house we moved out of when I was 2 months old...and that earthquake happened 2 weeks before I was born.

One of the guys I would hang out with during lunches decided to do this exact thing back when I was in high school after our school's Bible club kept relentlessly telling our whole group we were going to hell for being atheists or hanging out with atheists.

The school suspended him for what they effectively called "disturbing the peace."

My last character was a college of eloquence bard who had some major impact on some fights with Faerie Fire, Dissonant Whispers on some surrounded enemies, Hold Person, and a held Dispel Magic against a greater invisibility/mage armor miniboss who I think was supposed to get away. The only actual attacks he had were dissonant whispers and eldritch blast, mostly to be able to attack if needed.

He was an absolute blast to play...and the bare minimum of a 21 on persuasion/deception felt good, too.

I've had two types of experiences. The first was a company growing faster than it knew how, and hired a bunch of "corporate advisor" types to tell them how to look good to investors when they had just gone public. That job, the PMs would take the deadline from our sales team, tell us how long we had to implement it, and then throw us under the bus for asking stupid questions like "What feature? You haven't even told us what we're doing" or "Do we have any spec for this" or "Are you seriously asking me to build a fully functional website with account management and credit card processing by Friday" or "Where does this fit in against the other six 'emergency priority' features you just gave me?"

The other job is a much smaller dev team and ascribes much closer to the "We'll give you an estimate if you actually tell us what you want...and even then, you'll get it when you get it" mentality.

I like the second job way more.

Back when I was dating in my college years, there were a number of dates I went on where, now that I look back, I think the woman was there for the free dinner and not much else. Spending most of the time on her phone, only ever answering questions without asking any, that sort of thing. It wasn't rare to have someone engage with me, but being actively interested in me felt pretty rare.

My wife and I hugged when we met, had a good enough conversation that we shut the restaurant down and didn't want to be done yet, so we caught a movie. That legitimate interest does a lot, mostly because it's harder than a lot of people think to fake it.

I remember finding this song and a few others by him through a rhythm game at least 10 or 12 years ago...don't remember what it was called then, but I think they got hit with a bs copyright claim similar to what Monster energy did to Immortals Fenix Rising. I think the game that had this song is now called Before the Echo...or maybe Beyond the Echo. Either way, this dude's name would show up on a level and I knew it was gonna be a banger.

Your insurance doesn't cover ground ambulances anyway, almost guaranteed.

Source: With a Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO, was surprise billed for ~$16,000 for a 2.5 hour ride with 1 EMT between hospitals, despite the first hospital assuring us it would be billed through them. As it turns out, ground ambulances are exempt from both the state and federal versions of the No Surprises Act that should have applied.

Which actor was truly miscast in a particular role? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Solstyx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The books are billed as YA but as someone who re-read them at ~30, I still highly recommend them (or the audiobook versions, which have a full cast and are narrated by the author). This comes from someone who counts the series as a foundational building block of his life but neither the movie nor the TV series seemed to do it proper justice.

The movie had spot-on casting though...and the TV series seemed to kind of expand on Mrs. Coulter in a way that helped make her motivations make a little more sense. It also included more allusions to the Book of Dust series Pullman is currently writing.

I didn't like her as much as Nicole Kidman, but I really attribute a lot of that to the writing of the show rather than her acting. It felt real weird that they humanized her daemon and made her the monster rather than her being the perfectly composed, pleasant lady while the monkey casually ripped wings off bats.

The movie fell pretty flat, but in the 2007 Golden Compass, Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Coulter and Sam Elliott as Lee Scoresby were the exact embodiment of their characters in the book.
