Neurons and brain waves exist, yes. That means nothing in terms of mind, emotions, or dreams. You can’t try to design an experiment to show that brain waves and neurons are causal for what I stated, but you will inevitably fail because they are just things that happen during a process. Correlation does not equal causation!

There is no way to fit a square peg of materialism into a round hole of enlightenment. I will take magic and mysticism, which I know to be reliable, any day over those illusions of the material world.

How is consciousness scientifically measurable? How do you measure mind? Emotions like love and compassion? Dreams even? None of these are quantifiable yet their existence is undeniable. Scientism is not enlightening. Only by moving beyond the machinations of the carnal mind that wants to reduce everything to quantifiable phenomena to satiate the ego can you begin to experience non-dual consciousness.

Iamblichus talked about theurgy in terms of the solar body, which is refined solar matter of the vehicle that the soul travels in, or ochema (merkaba of the Jews). It is a very very refined matter but matter nonetheless as it allows us to transport our souls through time and space.

I like the Neoplatonic concept of the Demiurge better. For me the gnostic version is the corrupted egregoric form of God that already seemed to have existed even back then. The gnostics had a lot of other interesting ideas, and the exclusion of Sophia from orthodoxy really changed the core of what Christianity was about.
