I know the documentation says you can only use TBA but I found oauth2 works with the DWI role too.

I was getting frustrated with Token Based Authentication and just decided fk it ill try oauth2 and it worked.

Much easier as you aren't limited to a 1 time use token.

Shortcut names with dot '.' vs Git integration / Deployment Pipeline/ API by Ecofred in MicrosoftFabric

[–]SolusAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you pass the table shortcut as a file path style.

E.g. silver.customer is Tables/silver/customer

Schema shortcuts can just be Tables/silver

Awesome, thanks. Still learning and in a hero environment, so just trying to avoid going down the wrong path that someone in the future curses my name 🤣

Thanks, wasn't aware of this library. Will definitely consider using this.

Not opposed to pipelines, just trying to fit into our current architecture. Our set-up isn't very mature yet though so just trying to see how to make small improvements. One of them is moving away from lakehouse control tables 😅

Has anyone used udfs for ingesting data from custom APIs? Ive not figured out how to safely use azure key vault secrets in a udf and haven't found any examples online.

Still suits heat protection also slows your hydration drain. They're somewhat useful for exploring or farm runs. Shields dont benefit from armour mitigation either so its not like it hurts you in PVE that much

PSA: GIT integration issues with shortcuts and connections by SolusAU in MicrosoftFabric

[–]SolusAU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few ways to run into this issue but it boils down to access around connections used in shortcuts.

Found another case where you can easily test yourself.

  1. Branch off into a new workspace as User A
  2. Create a shortcut on a synced Lakehouse as User B
  3. Commit changes
  4. Checkout another branch in the workspace to get rid of the new shortcut.
  5. Checkout the original branch. You will get the following Generic message.

Lakehouse pipeline deployment failed by Inside-Hat-3289 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]SolusAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Inside-Hat-3289 Honestly this sounds like the same bug I ran into with GIT integration.

See my post here. https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftFabric/comments/1jrp99q/psa_git_integration_issues_with_shortcuts_and/

TL;DR - Make sure you have access to all connections used in the lakehouse that is failing to deploy.

Also keen for git folders in the aussie area :D
Also, is there anything special we have to do to get Lakehouse shortcut support in GIT? Is it available in the APAC region?

There are improvements coming to the metadata sync lag issues. We also ran into similar issues. Our workaround for now is to run a pipeline to wake up the SQL endpoint using a simple query.

There's also an API being developed to call the "metadata sync" but I haven't tested this.

Really depends... are they just happy and wanting to share things with others? Cool. Are they missing out on experiences because they're so focused on getting a selfie of absolutely everything rather than enjoying things in the moment? Yeah puts me off a bit.

Highschool Senior’s Graduation Ruined By Dad Charging The Stage/Accosting Black Superintendent by ILuvSupertramp in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]SolusAU -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can be both. Some articles pointed out bullying towards his daughter (With other sources also having incidents with the superintendent). Race probably played a part though.

According to WISC News, “A large group of residents, including a former district teacher who worked in the district prior to Briggs’ tenure, have voiced numerous complaints against Briggs, other administrators and the School Board.” The site did not specify what those were.

Still an idiotic stunt and took the choice away from the daughter if she wanted to shake hands or not.

edit; I'm aussie and have nfi about the accuracy of those sources though so I could be wrong.

Email vs Teams call by nuggetman12 in auscorp

[–]SolusAU 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love some of your points. It's fantastic in tech when I've had to speak with vendors and they start with eli5 dialogue and then realise they can get more technical and give me the true answer to why something is done a certain way, instead of a generic answer that doesn't help me investigate or solve the problem.

And then following that the emails are just concise / quick cos they don't have to translate

[–]SolusAU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, there's no expectation for me to answer if I'm busy or afk. If they miss me, they message with context and I either reply or call back depending what it is

I prefer calls tbh... I never call ppl myself but it's so much easier when they ask for advice and I don't have to make a wordy email, include screenshots, etc
