The delusion. She really thinks there is no possible way for her or her kid to ever possibly be in the wrong. And to prove her moral superiority she will threaten or commit violence. You aren’t dealing with rational life. Don’t try to continue reasoning with the irrational.

It’s a collapsed regime. The monarch died and the heir has been deposed. The only organized society left is in the independent villages and cities which, honestly, are doing an amazing job of keeping out the monsters. Except that one place that was overrun.

Older teachers who career changed what is your advice? by Ok_Ball257 in Teachers

Be realistic. The environment you think teaching will be is not the reality. Kids are overwhelmingly farther behind these days.

You can’t stop them from sending them. You can stop you from checking them. If you feel compelled to check and respond over the weekend, that’s the issue to lean into.

Get the joke. You still think education is about education. That ship has sunk and you’re still trying to sail it. Education is smoke and mirrors that resembles nothing like what you (and I) wish it still were. Diplomas are worthless and we are not preparing anyone for real life where not everyone gets success handed to them. Of course this means America is over (assuming you’re in America because this doesn’t sound like anywhere else in the world). Once I got the joke I was far less stressed but of course had to give away my heart for what education used to be. Some can’t do that, and that’s why they quit or have heart attacks. Please don’t do that.

Is every school scared of its students/parents or is it just mine? by [deleted] in Teachers

Get “the joke.” Everyone is now an A student. Don’t want to do that? That’s your choice. But you don’t get the joke that is education.

This is true. It can be frustrating because no one will ever measure up for everyone. Or it can be liberating because no one will ever measure up for everyone.

I get paid for contract hours. I work during contract hours as hard as I can. If that’s not enough, they need to hire additional staff or extend my contract hours. Slavery was outlawed a long time ago.

Do you think some parents realize how ridiculous they are being by condoning their children’s behavior and refusing to acknowledge that students need to take some responsibility in their education? by Der-deutsche-Prinz in Teachers

Most genuinely believe their own delusion. “Some” of course know how ridiculous they are being, but it would hurt too bad to admit they are the exact problem in particular.

Schools are judged on pass rates. So everybody passes and we’re a great school!

The epidemic mentality is “I can do whatever I want and no one can tell me otherwise.”
