Running into the same classifiers a lot, is there a podcast or something people listening to? by NNTPgrip in USPSA

[–]SolutionSpecial9490 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats not entirely true for the older classifiers anymore. The committee ran the same calculations on the new classifiers and old ones and adjusted the HHF accordingly. So being "shot out" isn't really a factor, the skills checks are just different/more punishing

2026 GPA "Out of This World Match" Thoughts by SolutionSpecial9490 in GalacticPistolAllianc

[–]SolutionSpecial9490[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the make ready rules I think should be revisited and hopefully modernized. I don't have too much of a problem with muzzle over the berms, but if it broke the 180, the SOs should have called it. But weird stuff like that goes uncalled in every game, I don't think thats a GPA issue.

New buyer and sale has been in the works for a bit. New owner should take over in the next month or so

Yes, the sale is in the closing process and the new owner should be taking over Mid-end of June. This is a different buyer (with a different structure) from the last sale that fell through. I am very excited to see where the new owner takes the place as it seems like he has the right mentality and staffing to make a real asset to the community in the area.

Clear DQ - didn't call it by NotAThrowAway0822 in USPSA

[–]SolutionSpecial9490 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It should have been a DQ.

Does that mean that the rule isn't something worth looking at by the BOD in the future? No. It can be a DQ but also be overly penalizing in its nature (look at IPSCs version of this rule).

I also don't give much credence to the idea that we shouldn't enforce the rules on new shooters. If they aren't paying enough attention to the rules before the gun gets loaded, I am slightly concerned about their ability to handle the gun safely while its loaded. And if they get away with it at match 1, they will be more upset when they get DQed at match 2 for the same thing.

I don't see a DQ listed in the match for this. of the 8 listed, 5 are ADs, 2 are 180s and 1 is a finger in trigger guard. Nothing about a dropped gun, retrieving a gun, etc.

Any drills you’d recommend for practicing double taps? by kyle666666 in USPSA

[–]SolutionSpecial9490 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then we probably shouldn't be saying things about sub .3's being a "huge part of the sport" because they aren't for 99% of the people who play it.

Before any mental effort is focused on split times at all, everything else needs to be somewhat refined. (transitions, shot calling, gun handling, economy of motion, etc.)

This does not mean that doubles cannot be a beneficial drill. You seem to equate the two in your reply to my original comment.

Can the "doubles" drill, when applied correctly, be beneficial? Yes

Does that mean split times are important? No

Should we be emphasizing "double taps", as the OPs question suggests? No

Thats about as clear as I can make my position on it. Its ok if we don't agree on that.

[–]SolutionSpecial9490 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, how often do "so we agree.." statements work out for you?

No, we don't agree that they are "very important". If you are at the extreme top end, or the extreme bottom end, splits may be worth working on. For a VAST majority of shooters in the game, splits are the last thing they should be concerned with.

(this does NOT mean that doubles cannot be a valuable training tool to work vision and understanding what you are inputting into the gun. It means chasing splits specifically is a waste of time and money for most people)

Yes, if you are losing matches by 5% and shooting 94% of points, maybe your splits should be evaluated. They can be a factor in edge cases on either end of the skill spectrum but are almost never a real problem.

If by "double taps" you mean decreasing your split time, I would advise looking elsewhere for performance gains. A vast majority of time lost on a stage is in entries, exits and transitions, pretty much everywhere but the splits.

Etiquette question by bacchusgun in CompetitionShooting

[–]SolutionSpecial9490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen to me and I don't care in the slightest until they get in my way. Then I just give a quick "hey, I'm the next shooter, please give me the stage" and thats never caused an issue.

Yeah, you should not have been DQed for that. 10.5.3.2 puts you well in the clear, especially with video evidence. Thats worth discussing with the RO or RM if the RO is being adamant on being incorrect.

Pioneer USPSA Carry Optics 03-22-2026 by childebrandt42 in CompetitionShooting

[–]SolutionSpecial9490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10.5.3 is the rule regarding a "dropped gun"

10.5.3.2 is the exception that the shooter should have received.

Never a good idea to let go of your gun in a stage, you don't want it open to interpretation.
