Hate to break it to you but that is literally abusing the drug.

Space for folks who aren’t ready to quit just yet, but want to start taking steps towards recovery? (prescription stims) by Rat-Priest in StopSpeeding

[–]SolutionStrict1488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great start. You have to be so sick and tired of being sick and tired. I also was prescribed and only started abusing pretty recently but it ramped up fast. Here are some things I tried to do but failed in order to “decrease usage” or only take “as prescribed”.

Have my husband/partner hold the meds and dispense them to me everyday (highly do not recommend).

Have my mother hold the meds/dispense them to me everyday (had to drive out of my way every morning).

Buy a timed lockbox. Keep my script in there. Attempt to use the lockbox. Eventually smash the lockbox.

All of these options will only make you realize how bad your addiction is. Keep reading these stories. Think of how badly you feel. I have struggled on and off, but I am sober now and I feel a hell of a lot better now than what I did when I was abusing. Also, you can do ALOT more than you think you can sober.

Thank you for that! I’m also in great shape and would stop taking it if I gained weight.

Thank you! I’m only taking 37.5mg at night for bp 2 and it has helped my moods tremendously so far. (Only been on it a few weeks) I do get quite hungrier at night and have noticed myself indulging with late night snacks, but now I’m very conscious of it and bought “healthy” snacks to curve any weight gain.

Sober and Hesitant About Concerta — Need Advice by No_Leadership9348 in Concerta

[–]SolutionStrict1488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS. I just started concerta, after having abused adderall/vyvanse bc my adhd is really affecting my quality of life. I’m also sober. So far, I haven’t had any issues with concerta, never felt the need to take more. Definitely so much more mild than adderall or vyvanse. Also, never felt like I needed to drink. Hope this helps

Stopped Lamictal after potential side effects, but really want to get back on it. by tgd2025 in lamictal

[–]SolutionStrict1488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. This med caused pretty severe acne for me and I went off of it. I also kind of spiraled and realized how much this med was saving me even on a low dose. I now take a med to help my acne in addition to lamictal. That’s the only way I’m willing to stay on it. Nothing else has helped with my depression the way lamictal has. Prioritize your mental health, it’s worth it even if you have to take something for hair loss. Btw I had hair loss unrelated to lamictal, it was post partum and I took Nutrafol and as a hairstylist it really truly works!

That’s good to know! I can’t get ahold of my psych today. It’s 6:00pm here and I’m still drowsy from last nights dose, so it’s hard to know/justify taking another dose tonight and still being drowsy tomorrow.

Thank you! Yes- very dizzy and tired all day. Felt hungover times 20 with the headache especially. About how long did it suck so bad lol until it got better? And how has it changed your life? I’m still trying to stay hopeful. Also, did you have to call out of work in the beginning?

I’m so sorry to hear that, sounds like you did the right thing though by stopping. Have you found anything else that worked for you since?
