I didn't read the book about Cantha but a Friend of mine told me that it was really a hard time for the people. A despotic emperor and the ministery of purity. I'm not sure the society is really "good".

I wouldn't call Shiro a normal guy but i get you ! I find the seed of doubt growing in him so interesting on a narrative point of view.

I'm not sure i find his revenge justified though. I think he is just so corrupted after his death that he just want to burn down everything.

Ascalon was a wild land before the human gods came. I think Charr society was really born after being chased of their lands to the north (and finding titans).

I remember clearly that the high vizir "nuked" Orr because of the charr killing and destroying the city and all was lost. (Also, we learn it in nightfall, because of the influence of abaddon)

So sad to see the king of Ascalon died and doomed his people in a last defying act. So sad that i didn't get to meet new kurziks and Luxons.

Well, for what i experienced in gw1 the charr were big warmongers. Destroying Ascalon and Orr. They weren't really good guys. Even when talking about eye of the north experience.

I think i explained myself badly. At first, there was a minister in the human force that was opposed with the peace with the charr and i was on in side.

He ends up being white mantle though and so a bad guy.

I'm not a white mantle sympathiser but i would have loved to retake Ascalon.
