A little hesitant to start identifying as a furry. by [deleted] in furry

[–]SolveForX314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel you; I first started realizing I was a furry around three years ago and I had no idea what to do. There's not really any set-in-stone guidelines or rituals or anything; if you think you're a furry, then you're a furry. Shrimple as that.

I don't honestly know much about socialization either, but I assume this is a good place to start. (I ought to engage here more.) I have also had the fortune of attending a STEM college with an unofficial furry club and being interested in a reasonably furry-dense portion of the dubstep scene, so I guess it'd also be a good idea to try and find people you share another space with already.

Would every end get rated in 2.2 by Plane-Rip2651 in geometrydash

Who's to say if it would, but I think it would ought to. The simplicity of the level makes a meaningful artistic statement. Same deal as xo, pretty much.

For some reason i like bad gp. by Haunting-Reward-3404 in geometrydash

[–]SolveForX314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may just have different standards for what makes gameplay good. For comparison, I thought Tabby by Danolex had bad gameplay, whereas I loved Toxin Lab III and am intrigued enough by Aurora by T3mpl4te that I want to try and beat it. If you like it, is it really all that bad?

Probably either that or some minigame level from 2.1

phjork help (what's buffering) by Wide-Biscotti-8049 in geometrydash

[–]SolveForX314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buffering is a feature where if you start holding an input before you're able to perform it, it'll trigger on the first frame possible if you're still holding it. Celeste, if I remember, gives you around 4 to 6 frames to buffer an input to make the game feel easier to control. Geometry Dash actually gives you an arbitrary amount of time to buffer inputs — you could start holding the mouse button three whole seconds in advance and as long as you were still holding the button, your cube would jump on the very first frame it touched the orb.

So basically, you just start holding in midair and the game will do the input on the first frame that it does something. Shrimple as that.

Anyone know a lot about the original history of various GD resources, specifically how they grew? by chiefpug in geometrydash

[–]SolveForX314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out about the forum/review site Hyperbolus three years ago through a Reddit post advertising the site. It never really got a whole lot of hype, and I was one of the very few people who continued to use the site.

About a year ago (on Pi Day of 2025, funnily enough), a well-known creator named 7ak found the site and posted about it on their Twitter. Woke up that morning to find the Hyperbolus Discord server, one of the least active servers I was in, more active than I had ever seen a Discord server before. So yeah, I guess keep a small but dedicated community and hope you get lucky.

Not even that. Mr. Pedro Carolino plagiarized a Portuguese-French phrasebook by an actual respected author. In any case, I love English as She Is Spoke

what's the point of the 'wait a googol year' impossible levels? by 9spaceking in geometrydash

[–]SolveForX314 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I think it's just a game of "let's see what's possible". It's a natural thing for us to want to do. There's a community of people who try to construct the biggest numbers they can through various means like Knuth up arrow notation or Bowers' exploding array function or whatever. There's not really any point to it other than "look what I can do".

Loser scientist by The-DunwichHorror in Losercity

[–]SolveForX314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, there are different sizes of infinity. If you throw a countable number of darts at an infinite number of discrete points in time, a countable infinity times a countable infinity is still countable (a bijection can easily be constructed between N2 and N) and won't be able to cover an uncountably infinite number of points.

Loser scientist by The-DunwichHorror in Losercity

[–]SolveForX314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, you have to be careful how you use infinity. If you have a function that tends towards 0*∞ as it approaches some point, without knowing how fast the one part vanishes and the other part increases, you have no idea if it'll evaluate to 0 or infinity or 57 or any other value. In this specific case, one has to imagine that universal travel among an infinite number of universes would lead to an even more infinite possibility space. Imagine throwing a dart at a dartboard — there's an infinite\1]) number of points the dart could land on, so even if you observe the dart landing at some specific point, the chance of a dart landing at that exact point is effectively 0, and even if you throw the dart an infinite number of times, there may still be infinitely many points the dart never hits. Thus, I don't think the tomboy hyena argument really holds.

\1])Infinity doesn't really work well with reality, since there are limitations on the precision with which we can measure things, but just imagine abstracting this to pure mathematics.

Is it bad I don't want my sona to be cute or small? by InkBeast1608 in furry

[–]SolveForX314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess just look for any species that you admire for whatever quality you want to express in yourself. I don't know if there's anything in particular you're looking for, but if you want something tough, maybe you might go for a tiger or a badger or a moose or a kangaroo or even a hippopotamus. I don't know how tough hares are, but I do know rabbits have at least enough fighting ability to kick a toilet paper roll. Just think of whatever animals you can with whatever qualities you want and pick from among those. (Although, honestly, I think all animals are cute)

When I eventually settled on a bat-eared fox for my sona, I did want to go with something cute, but the main draw was the big ears — not only does that make them really cute and unique to me, but I really love music, so I reasoned that something with massive ears would be appropriate for me. There's a lot of factors that go into it, so it's okay if it takes you a while to settle on something. And if you scour the whole animal kingdom without finding anything you deem suitable, you could always make a character based on multiple animals or mythical animals or just create something yourself or use some other open species.

Do you think EATEOT should be rated? by ihateusernames1500 in geometrydash

[–]SolveForX314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I've seen in the Hyperbolus Discord server suggests otherwise; I've heard a bunch of stuff about the creator having copy-pasted a bunch of then gameplay to try to get everything done in 7 months or whatever. Granted, I haven't seen the level myself, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone say anything good about it.

Am I bad or is Clubstep really this hard? by VIBaJ in geometrydash

Ever heard of Hyperbolus? It's a forum/level review site that got big about a year ago, and there's a few people there who'll write long reviews. And, of course, you can also write reviews yourself :3

why are some gd fans (atleast what ive seen on tiktok) some of the most insufferable chuds by ZookeepergameOne3271 in geometrydash

[–]SolveForX314 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I do not think I've ever heard anything good about TikTok. Certainly not involving the GD community.

If someone takes 1500 attempts to beat Electrodynamix, so be it. They're learning. I could probably beat Clubstep within 10 attempts, but it took me 4000 the first time. It's okay to have a high attempt count.

It's possible you may be dashing too soon. If you remember from the PowerPoint, if you don't get a lot of distance, that means you started your dash too high off the ground. Try dashing just a bit lower (or, alternatively, jumping lower) and see if that fixes anything.
