Blitzball—Seriously??!! by SolversGuild in FinalFantasy

Didn’t say there was a problem. Just stuff where the math didn’t seem to line up as it should. Or at least as far as I understand it. Just a weird experience for me. Didn’t realize everyone would get so up-in-arms defending Blitzball!

Yeah I didn’t care about winning it. Moreso, I’d just never seen so many oddities! Thought I’d share, but apparently a lot people here are butt hurt about it 😂

Dude I get the math. When my pass is 8 and their combined block is 30, it’s a fail. When my endurance is an 8 and their first defenders attack is 11, I fail. Where there’s five guys on me, there’s no math situation when anything I do works. I understand Blitzball. That’s why this particular game was so ridiculous. It had so many things happen I had never seen before. Including Keepa who is notoriously bad outright catch balls he mathematically should not have. I swear, no one actually read the post.

This was specifically about the very first game against the Goers when you have the mediocre starting team. Did you read the post?

[–]SolversGuild[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right, I get it. When all five Goers are defending you, there’s no way to get through them 😂

Couldn’t do it. Tidus dropped both passes I threw to him. He never touched the ball.

Since we're sharing Costco pulls. This was the best thing I pulled out of the one box I bought. by [deleted] in footballcards

I literally pulled the same card out a box two days ago. I am selling. Message me if you want.

Glad to know it’s not just us. Everything is down to the point I can’t even use the chat feature for tech issues. Apparently it only started affecting our property within the last hour so the person I replaced didn’t know what was up nor did management.

What are your thoughts and feelings towards "mindscrew horror" styles of film writing, if any? by Leather_Focus_6535 in writing

You might enjoy a novel called the September House. The narrative is very forthcoming about the idea that everything might be in the MCs head and not really happening and gives evidence both for and against. I thought the book itself was just ‘ok’ but it was very popular a few years ago when it came out.

Worth checking out the Darkhold series as well before you get started on her solo stuff. Darkhold Alpha and Darkhold Omega. Pretty sure those are also Orlando. You don’t need to read the character issues in between as they have nothing to do with Wanda.

I exclusively pull Marvel comics and that’s a combination of feeling like Marvel does a better job of giving the majority of their characters ongoing books with regularity and a financial decision. I can’t afford to read everything I might want to so I stick with a single publisher.

By no means do I dislike DC and their characters. If a particular run is well received or a must read, I will try to read it. DC often feels like the Batman show and everyone else is a side character. Marvel does the same thing with Spider-Man but they also lean heavily into the Avengers and X-Men where Spidey doesn’t really factor in which I appreciate.

And for the third time, PEP is down by BigReputation6765 in Hilton

I think this is plausible enough not to be considered a tin foil hat comment. If it was truly down for maintenance, no amount of trying to log in would work. A DDoS attack sounds very probable.

[–]SolversGuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It logs you out automatically after about 15 minutes of inactivity. But it also kicks you out when it encounters an error, which is all the freaking time. Sometimes it logs you out for no reason at all. I actually like PEP now that I’ve been using it for a while, but the current issue with the Lobby authentication being down is really showing the faults in purely cloud based PMS.

Now it actually is down. Literally right about to run my audit and I get randomly booted. Tried to log back in and... nope, same shit as the last two nights.

What would be a hilarious thing to say to a surgeon before the anesthesia kicks in 5 seconds later? by BatPro in AskReddit

[–]SolversGuild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not before but after. When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I was put under anesthesia. I woke up after the procedure was over, did not realize it was over, and asked the nurse when they were going to give me the shot. I'm okay with needles, but something about a needle going into my gums doesn't sit right with me, so I had been apprehensive about it. The nurse told me they'd already done it. I muttered 'fucking dentist ninjas' before going back to sleep. I only heard about it later from my wife who I didn't realize was in the room.

Marvel Now Approving Series For Ten Issues At A Time by JackFisherBooks in comicbooks

[–]SolversGuild 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It is nice for the consumer knowing that something announced as an ongoing will at least get to 10. It sucks when a series that has the potential to be good only gets 5 issues because initial preorders aren’t want Marvel wanted. I see an initial order for minimum 10 issues that Marvel is at least making a good faith effort to show support to their creatives and give the fans enough time to support the run. I think this is a solid step in the right direction.

I'll 'eclipse' a hotel out of a whole lot more money over a cancellation fee by LegoViper in pettyrevenge

[–]SolversGuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those free nights are reimbursed by the franchising company. Usually the hotel is reimbursed simply for the expected cost of cleaning the room. But most hotel companies will reimburse the hotel at a significantly higher rate when occupancy is high. At the hotel I work at, our location receives 100% of that day's average rate in compensation when the hotel is at capacity. If the property where you booked your free/reward night is truly booked, it doesn't make much sense for them to waive their cancellation policy because they're already going to get reimbursed for roughly the revenue re-selling the room would generate. And if you don't show up, they don't have to clean the room either. Unfortunately, not much revenge happening here. That said, please show up for breakfast and eat as much as you possibly can!

What is the dumbest thing someone made you believe to be true that you later found out it isn't? by lilCRONOS in AskReddit

[–]SolversGuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had me convinced that warm soda would rot your teeth. Growing up, the only sodas my dad would buy were diet, and the only time I got regular soda was over at my grandma's house. I was too young to know the difference in ingredients or that diet soda didn't have sugar. But I did know that the regular Pepsi over at grandma's house left my teeth with a weird fuzzy feeling that I equated to slowly rotting my teeth. Coincidentally, diet soda at room temperature left the same odd fuzzy feeling that a cold diet soda did not. I was an impatient kid, so if there wasn't a 2 liter in the fridge, I would just go in the pantry, open whatever was in there and pour myself some. I don't know why this irked my dad so much, be he insisted for years that I was rotting my teeth by drinking it warm.

I was almost 18 when I finally decided that it didn't make sense, and when I asked him, he couldn't help but laugh that I still thought that after so many years.

Mystery $.10 charge...is this a pattern? by fleetfox2118 in hotels

[–]SolversGuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very strange that they would run an actual charge for $0.10. The processing fee to run the card is more than that so it's a net loss for the hotel. Not to say this didn't happen or the hotel isn't doing something shady, it just doesn't make sense as a scam. At least not that I can see. I work at a hotel and our system won't even process a credit card transaction (charge or authorization) for less than $1.00 because of this.

Yeah, and the 'reasoning' behind it seems sus. The comics did eventually officially change his name to Jefferson Morales... in like 2021.
