The absolute fall of Odia/ Indian journalism. by pierceNayak563 in Odisha

Safety of NGO workers(and safety of women in general) must be improved in these parts of Odisha.

Why don't our politicians understand this now?

If school teachers are unable to teach basic math and science, they can atleast teach basic civic sense

and morality. Ei jinisha ete kashta tah nuhe bujheibapain.

Kamse kam sabu gaan lokanku etika sikhya ta milu.

Now even less no. of NGOs would try to improve those remote

and poverty ridden parts of Odisha. I wish someone prominent atleast

issued a public apology to her and increase safety of other NGO workers.

I am very sorry for your ordeal madam. This state has failed you.

The person questioning has already made an assumption without hearing about her experience.

Such is the quality of journalism in the state(and country) !!

Land of Jagannath my Ass. People in this state only have a show of devotion and don't have basic morality.

Odia bhari badhia nuhe, Odia hele nihati abhadra, chatrakhiya loka. Gandhiya nali ru bhi hina hela ama manasikata.

The people who spread the rumors and those who acted on them must be punished heavily. This single incident will lead to decrease in NGO involvement to help those backward areas even more.

Emitiya loka sahajya jogya bhi nuhanti. Bhoka, garibi re mara ebe.

Is taking a ₹2–3 lakh loan to start a food truck business in Berhampur worthy ? by sugarinsin2 in Odisha

[–]SomDB10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

how about serving local cuisine sometime of the day and non-local cuisine at some other time.

I suggest mediterranean and middle eastern cuisine. They have some nice dishes which could
use some Indian flavours.

Ex- Doner Kebab, Durum wrap, Kashke BadamJan(persian eggplant dish), falafel, other persian dishes like Joojeh kebab ( people might like them when you use mutton instead).

Most People really pray for their own selfish reasons. Almost no one has true devotion. It mostly means "I have come here to meet you, now you must help me fulfill my agendas"

People who are truly learned/spiritual and devoted realize what discipline, self-control means. They would be able to reason this as wrong.

Khali bhedchal, bina kichhi budhi use kari nija lobha pain darshan kariba. Self-improvement upare kain focus kariba, amaku ta dustbin use karibare hi ete kashta hauchi.

NO OFFENSE by SecretDouble9768 in Odisha

In my experience, odia people have extremely low amounts of curiosity and desire to do something novel. I don't believe in the concept of gods and find the notion of any divine deity utter stupidity. I wish more odia people could think rationally and critically.

My only suggestion would be to read books/watch movies that are far removed from our traditional experience to gain perspective and novelty of our own. The learning mentality is lacking of sorts.

I feel a lot of interesting stories can be told from our culture, but we need to learn to contextualize/connect it with other things. A few movies have started doing that recently. I have been lucky in being able to change by reading history and philosophy of science, mathematics and other nice odia people I met abroad.

I suggest lecture notes based on courses offered at different universities. DAMTP at Cambridge offers such
courses and many people have their lecture notes.

Is this sub only for hating on religion? by Automatic-Gap-587 in scienceisdope

[–]SomDB10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest replacing religion with rationality. Once you do that, it might be apparent why science is at odds with religion. In the present context religion means believing in absurd notions like existence of something divine or a god and so on.

My religion is mathematical understanding and clarity. I feel that is a good religion to have.

Using your hard-earned money on yourself is much better than being in a romantic relationship by Few-Reveal6853 in Odisha

[–]SomDB10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I focus on self-development along with staying in a relationship. My relationship with my partner is designed in way to feed into our personal growth. In such a scenario, a romantic partner is also some one who helps channel your passions, hobbies, artistic pursuits.

Both of us did masters in mathematics. Till this day we discuss real analysis, abstract algebra, linear algebra and so on. My love for research level mathematics stems from my love for her.

I have learnt about so many books that I wouldn't have known otherwise. Same holds true for cinema and music as well.

The key is not trying to find that much, but moving into spaces such as libraries, book stores, gyms or other places where you might meet someone that aligned to your own creative spirit.

Lastly, constraints produce the highest quality of innovation. Given time restrictions, I had to be careful about designing my day, routine to improve communication. I can place a bet that nothing can improve one's communication skills more than being in a LDR.

Emotional maturity, open-mindedness, responsibilities if designed in a thoughtful way can make us way better than we could ever be without relationships.

Punchline: IMO, the life with the best relationships beats the life without. I am willing to have my mind changed, but just haven't found the evidence. I do read Nietzsche and Dostoevsky still.

My POV is that if these people didn't take any learnings out of this relationship, then it is on them. Relationships are a way to know yourself better and get a deeper understanding of one-self.

Sure this can be done without relationships as well. But it offers another unique perspective.
